According to the Asian Development Bank (ADB), Bangladesh is expected to post a growth rate of 7.9% in 2018-19 against the 7.3% projected for India. India, which is the fastest growing major economy in the world and competing to become a global superpower is being almost overshadowed by steady and miniscule neighbour – Bangladesh.

India’s eastern neighbour saw a GDP growth of 7.28 per cent in the last financial year, according to the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS), while India grew at 7.1%. The country’s per capita income is also growing rapid;y. According to United Nations Conference on Trade and Development figures cited in a Dhaka Tribune report, while India’s per capita income rose by 13.8% between 2013 and 2016, Bangladesh’s grew by 39%, which is almost three times that of India.

According to some estimates, if Bangladesh continues to keep up its gross national income (GNI) and GDP growth at the same pace for the next two years, it will overtake India’s per capita income by 2020.

Bangladesh has also made tremendous progress in social development indicators such as life expectancy, infant mortality and gender parity. In a study on ‘human capital’ published in the medical journal The Lancet, India ranked a notch below Bangladesh.

According to the World Bank, in 2017, Bangladesh recorded an infant mortality rate of 27, which means that these many children died on average within the first year for every 1,000 live births. For India, the rate was 32. The average life expectancy for an individual in Bangladesh is 72.58 years, against 68.8 years in India.

Unless Bangladesh's population growth rate is negative 6%, 39% percapita income growth in 3 years is impossible.

why you drag Pakistan in it ? i did not see word Pakistan in article ?

@Slav Defence

Even if he drags Pakistan into it. In terms of actual numbers it doesn't mean sh*t. GDP alone isn't the best way to see how happy it's people are. Even GDP (PPP) doesn't mean sh*t, wealth distribution is also a main factor which no one counts. Not every one is rich or poor.

Bangladesh GDP: 250 Billion $
Bangladesh Population: 166.4 Million people
Bangladesh Land Area: 148, 570 square kilometer
https://tradingeconomics.com/bangladesh/gdp

Compare that to Pakistan
Pakistan GDP: 305 Billion $
Pakistan Population: 200.8 Million people
Pakistan Land Area: 881, 570 square kilometer

They probably can't even afford to live in 1 kanal or 1 acre houses, where as in Pakistan it's quite common. They cant produce crops as much as Pakistan because of their land area. Their population have a negative growth rate now(2018 166,368,149 2017 164,669,751), though they controlled their population growth but it will be bad for them since there would come a point when there would be more old folk's compared to young one's leading to lower work rate.

Their minimum wage for unskilled person is 5000-6000 taka which equate to 7000- 8000 PKR, where as in Pakistan it's 15k PKR. Only a retard would compare Bangladesh and Pakistan. If anyone disagrees prove me with facts, stats and data....

We have had several such discussions. Let them enjoy and feel the euphoria.

We all know what Pakistan is, whats the potential. These indicators mean nothing. Surely Pakistan is not doing well on the economic front, but this is temporary and short lived.

Most probably it has something to do with currency depreciation. These are nominal GDP growth figure. In the last few years, Indian currency depreciated a lot against Dollar compared to Bangladeshi currency.

You are using outdated figures about Bangladesh economy. BD economy is now like 285 billion USD. And our population growth is not negative either.

High-rise buildings can solve housing issues of a densely populated area. Look at Singaporea for instance. And Dhaka has more high-rise buildings than Pakistan, if are gonna do some d1ck measuring.

BD minimum wage for garments is 8000 Taka now.
Which equates to 13k PKR. And the way pkr is going down soon it might be equivalent to 16k PKR. But let them feel well.

It's in the title. AFAIK altering titles of an article is not allowed.

Well unlike you I don't go with estimations, You probably got the figure from an estimation by following site, but I compared my data from the same site for Pak and Bangla for the same year in my previous comment.

https://www.statista.com/statistics/438219/gross-domestic-product-gdp-in-bangladesh/

where you forgot to see an 'asterisk' with that year which probably mean estimation or projection.

And our population growth is not negative either.

http://www.worldometers.info/world-population/bangladesh-population/

Yearly growth rate percentage 1.03 %, and it seems a strict population control which will sure lead to lower young population.

Yea good luck with that, also do tell me the GDP of Singapore (300 Billion) with population of mere 6 million. ohh wait, they are rich as hell who knew....(obvious sarcasm). They can afford that, you lot can't. They are technologically advanced, they are not cheap labor for other countries like you. GL making your shitty country into hong kong, lewl... I mean dreams and dreams...

Well, keep on dreaming then, talking about today. Your exports are garments, if the labor is not cheap, why in the world would people be willing to pay you for your garments, west would look for better options.

Well, then it means we are not talking about present. No one would deny that Pakistan had a better economy in the past. 2016 already looks like distant past for us.

Well, making babies is no longer our national sport. But there is still a long way to go before we reach negative population growth rate.

The point is you were talking about big houses. I said it can be taken cared of by building high rises. I was not comparing BD with Singapore. Singapore was not always super reach though FYI. The point is, BD has focus in building high rises. There are tons of 8-16 floor residential buildings in Dhaka.
Well, keep on dreaming then, talking about today. Your exports are garments, if the labor is not cheap, why in the world would people be willing to pay you for your garments, west would look for better options.

See the trend. I PKR was more than I Taka till 2008. Now 1 Taka is like 1.6 PKR.

Another thing is participation of female in BD labor force. A garments worker earns 8000 taka which is equivalent to 13000 PKR. Her husband is likely to earn the same or more. So in PKR family income is more like 26000 PKR. While in Pakistan Female participation in work force is rather low. So, a unskilled will probably has to manage his whole family with 15000 PKR.

Pakistan has better infrastructures. And definitely have a much better military.

You can be happy with that. I am happy that our people has a better life expectancy and higher literacy rate. Not to mention Pakistan is behind BD in HDI as well.

Well, Bangladesh and Pakistan, one is not necessarily better than the other as a whole. It's just that our priorities are very different.

Probably because the poorest may have been shoved into Assam and Bengal(as well as distortion of facts and figures)? Tell BSF to stop watching above the fence-line for pole vaulters, instead look below for termites tunneling

70% of Pak economy is undocumented/unregulated/untaxed etc.!!! So, comparisons are hard to make since direct estimations aren’t possible!!! But some signatures are too visible to hide even for the Pak folks (Pak is the master of hiding. Even CIA/MOSSAD/RAW, the ultimate Satanic agents, couldn’t find her nukes. Who are WB/ADB/UN/IMF etc.???)

200K new cars are sold in Pak a year with a CAGR of 20%. BD sells 5K cars per year. Total #of cars in BD is ~350K, but in Pak it’s ~3m.

2m new motorbikes are sold in Pak with a CAGR of ~20%, and Pak has in total ~12m of them. BD has in total 1.6m motorbikes.

Some other interesting #s. In Karachi alone, 250K private armed-to-the-teeth guards are employed to provide security to the Escobar-class cartels!!! And, they employ 3m BD folks, who are economic illegal migrants, as domestic helps!! And, Pak folks have trashed 350b US$ in foreign countries while being habitual and voracious consumers and spenders!!! It just shows whoever comes up with any estimations, based on the documented Pak economy, is far from the reality....

What we need is a huge wall in our border with India. Walls are wonderful structures. Walls are the epitome of Architectural advancement.

And yet they go asking money to IMF, while BD has long since decided to stop borrowing from them. GG WP.
