All I see BNP is basing BAL on FB pages (although in many cases reasonable but most certainly these will not attract any new voter).
BNP leaders have to change their approach. Old Khaleda (i like her as a gentle and modest lady) has to step down. And set someone else but not Tareq for this term. This is a good chance for Khaleda to step down showing cause of illness. Tareq looks also gentle but not intelligent. Just saw him in a video where he says Zia ur Rahaman envisioned sending satellite long time ago. I do not understand what is the point of saying this now. Now any one can ask him then why did not send it when you had chance. What will he say then but being found himself dumbfounded??!
I remember how AL used the "Digital Bangladesh" phrase like Obama's "We need change" phrase. Internet was slow at that time and the use of ICT was limited. By using Digital Bangladesh slogan (a comparatively new thing to Bangladeshis at that time) BAL attracted the new voters massively along with showing the
false association of islamic terrorism with BNP. And today BAL has finished successfully the first phrase of Digital Bangladesh concept by sending satellite (although loss project according to cost-benefit analysis, the pride is the main thing here).
BNP has to think out of the box, not typical. Because people are changed today, and
the deciding factors for giving vote to someone has changed. It must hire talented advisers and do sentiment and field survey.
BNP has to learn how to lead with strong conviction and consolidate the opportunities of time. And this is the opportunity if using the issue of FREEDOM of EXPRESSION and TRUE DEMOCRACY with accountability, which are ZERO now.
For the next election BNP can just do four things.
- They should say that okay BAL has tried to develop, but if we come we will continue it, but our system will be SUPER TRANSPARENT and there will be accountability.
- They should say that we will set the FREEDOM of EXPRESSION and TRUE DEMOCRACY on BD which is absent today. No one will be arrested for that unless does vandalism on streets.
- We will increase the job (which is horrible now), new scholarships to abroad, new banking system, micro financing, entrepreneurship awards, talent nurturing etc.
- Since there is a limited healthcare system in BD, BNP can offer something like Obama care in BD, like BAL offered unrealistic 10 taka KG rice.
All I am saying considering of the new voters who do not ideologically align with BNP may be. Otherwise, I do not think BNP has any chance to truly attract the new young voters based on old vote-deciding factors, however, I still think in a fair election people will vote for BNP being disgusted by BAL.
