I should have been more clear, I mean the political identity of Bangladesh. Majority of India is Hindu but I wouldn't describe India (the state identity) as anything close to Hindu.

@Ashes on this, not really. If you read Sharia (and where Sharia is influenced/based from as it pertains to Hadith and the Quran itself), it is quite clear commentary on Islam's role in the state (esp if the population is mostly Muslim). Maybe

The very essence of religion is to establish and sustain order, a political existence as a state is a very large part of this. This is why dharmic/Eastern belief systems have both religious but non-religious aspects too (and largely its based on whether there is core dogma or not)....and the former definitely has much commentary on the political side of things (like with Hinduism there is concept of Ram Rajya, the ideal ruler).
