So what? Bengali language has lots of loan words from foreign languages. Have anybody told u that we hate Arabic, Urdu or Farsi Language?
Why not ? Urdu was the most hated language before 1971 with all its Arabic or Persian roots and now it is all fine for you guys because it has foreign some words. SHW needs to throw this word ''Awaami'' out of her Party name and replace it with some Bangla word like ''Manoos'' probably.

It was probably disliked by Hindu and Bengali secularists but not practicing Muslims. Urdu along with Farsi still being teach in Islamic institutions.

Bangladeshi bengali is filled with Arabic and Farsi words since we are Muslims. while Indian bengali is filled with more Sanskrit words since they are hindus. I think it's common in South Asia

No longer in use, BD bangla got hinduinze over the year whereas Urdu became more enriched with Arabic and Farsi words.

For example, Surah Fatiha has 55% worlds common with Urdu which is not true for Bangla language.

No comment on BD election but Why BAL still uses the word Awami which is a Urdu word?

Because they are munafiq..

Because Hasina is also Urdu word! :P

Behasina to be more correct.

U r getting confused. Protesting against a forceful imposition of a foreign language as official language and hating the language isn't the same thing. Nobody hates Urdu, Arabic or Farsi in Bangladesh.

If tomorrow BD government declares that English will be the official language of BD many will protest against it. That doesn't mean they will protest against it out of hate against English rather for their love for Bengali.

Hindi word "Pani" is one of the most commonly used word in bengali but the pure form this word's bengali version is "Jol" which isn't used that much. Same with Awami league. This word has a history behind it and gave that party a nationwide recognition. Why will they discard it.

Looking at votes from Bangladeshi members alone

AL has 11 votes
BNP has 6 votes

Looking like Hasina will win hands down against poor performer BNP.

Hasina should reinstate CTG, call for election and legitimize her prime ministership.

Hay Himmat???

Many PDF BNP supporters are not active nowadays here. May be they are active on FB pages with more common people in Bangla.

May be they do not feel comfortable as BNP is not in power. You know power gives confidence.

I think same thing will happen, if BNP comes. Many AL supporters will feel uncomfortable here.

I also think AL supporters who are excited with GDP and development here will deny any future development by BNP.

Islam doesn't teach this , but Christianity does.
Read those Bible verses.
On the other hand sunni Islam isn't theocratic , but there are strong elements of political matter in Islam. Islam is a Deen, so you can't exclud politics totally as politics is the part of life .
However I am not talking about recent political Islam of many hardcore organization s, still Islam can't be completely free from its own political elements .
That's why Islam can't be totally separated from state .
Islam though theocratic has rules placed in itself which promotes keeping state and religion a separate entity... meanwhile Europe had a theocratic system which corrupted religious influence to wage unnecessary wars and thus secularism was born.

https://abuaminaelias.com/separation-of-mosque-and-state-in-islam/

I don't think any religion teaches that. Islam included.
Now that is purely on who interprets what....

So, according to the PDF poll AL is ahead of BNP. But looks like lots of foul play is going on here. I don't think we have 30 Bangladeshi members here in pdf. :P :P

On a serious note, this whole election will be a complete waste of public money since we already know who will come to the power. A free and fair national election can't be held in Bangladesh without a neutral caretaker government. Al knows it, BNP knows it, even the gullible public knows it. @T-Rex
But do you all want a “free and fair” election? :P

Actually English is the second official language of Bangladesh and as such any documents made in English are accepted at all institutions

@Nilgiri @Al-zakir
Lmao Urdu wasn’t hated. But forcing it upon people who didn’t speak it was... what if the east was in power and made bangla (a language with Sanskrit and thus Hindu routes) the official state language of west Pakistan... none of y’all would be chill on weed...

Hasina is a Persian word. There is no such thing as Urdu word. Urdu is a made up language. It is basically Hindi with a healthy dose of Arabia/Persian words import switched to Persian alphabet.

That's too vague.....there are tons of right wing parties in the world....does all of them has some connection with Muslim league?

Majority population's religious belief........Mullah group wielding significant power.....Public holiday in most Islamic important days....3 days for each Eid....biggest public holiday.....Office hour reschedule for Ramadan....what more do you want?

I should have been more clear, I mean the political identity of Bangladesh. Majority of India is Hindu but I wouldn't describe India (the state identity) as anything close to Hindu.

Islam teaches us to keep state and religion separate from each other unlike other religions....

I agree with @Ashes on this, not really. If you read Sharia (and where Sharia is influenced/based from as it pertains to Hadith and the Quran itself), it is quite clear commentary on Islam's role in the state (esp if the population is mostly Muslim). Maybe @Psychic @Desert Fox and @Centaur can give some pointers on this.

The very essence of religion is to establish and sustain order, a political existence as a state is a very large part of this. This is why dharmic/Eastern belief systems have both religious but non-religious aspects too (and largely its based on whether there is core dogma or not)....and the former definitely has much commentary on the political side of things (like with Hinduism there is concept of Ram Rajya, the ideal ruler).

Don't you get it , its all just Persian now so its fine/justified (Urdu never existed in any process/connection to Bengali vocab blah blah blah):

Yeah, because you fish munchers can't do better than steal others languages and names.

Stole devnagari script from Indians

And yet your Bangali is still trash compared to Urdu

Urdu is more original than the trash you speak. I swear Bangali is one of the ugliest languages. Urdu poetry is the most beautiful.

eh?

This is a good question but one that I'm not able to answer because my knowledge on the concept of state within Islam is rudimentary. @Psychic will likely know more than I do and answer this question.

I linked up an explanation to my reply to centaur, you may read that to understand the concepts...

And as for sharia... which sharia!? The one drawn up by the wahabist monkeys!?

@Nilgiri , only Awami League version of Islam ( names are different in other countries, still agendas are same) is separated from state.
Awami League is producing millions of online muftis who read Quran and hadith in Bengali/English and jump to conclusion by taking them literally.
This muftis ( Awami secular muftis ) are directly responsible for the rise of awami secular Islam and indirectly responsible for the rise of ISIS type anti islamic self proclaimed dirty satanic Khilafat of ISIS.
I am not scholar so I am sorry that I myself can't explain with my very limited knowledge, but you can find lots of authentic information about Islamic politics here .
There are lots of direct questions and answers, hope it will help you . Thanks.

PS: I believe @Al-zakir bhai will be able to provide further references if necessary.
