Speaking of 'khasi kosha mangsho' - Dhaka has everyone beat in this dish. Just had some for dinner as a matter of fact (Kosha Korbani Goat Bhuna with Rumali roti - Yum!).

I once ate Korbani in a friends's house, tokhon eto bhalo lage nai... dekhi, next time bhalo ekta jagai khete lagbe....

Nando's is a South African Franchise. El Toro to my knowledge is not an Indian Franchise. You may have restaurants by the same name in India but the one's in Bangladesh aren't related.

The only one that is an Indian franchise (sort of - that I heard) is the Khazana Restaurant inspired by Sanjeev Kapoor (but I did not see his name anywhere on the website). Website below. But Tommy Miah's 'Heritage' (pictures posted above) takes the cake when we are talking 'Indian Food' in the western sense. In other words Bangladeshi version of 'Indian Food' is more popular than 'Indian Food' itself.

The origin of 'Bangals' are in Bangladesh. Such as Amartya Sen, Suchitra Sen and you!

Most of the better cuisine got started in well-to-do 'Bhati' areas like Manikganj, Tangail and Comilla (Saddar - proper) as well as BrahmanBaria. Trade and money brought in wealth (and with it - the tradition of good cuisine) to wealthy families.

Patishapta is an authentic Bengali pitha, in all its variants it is a Bengali dish, hence Indian dish.

We are thinking about taking patent of all our cuisine and charging patent fee from Bangladeshis for eating any of the items (which is everything that Bangladeshis commonly eat)!!
