Certainly it was a birth of a nation and a very poor country at that. Mujib was wrong to nationalize our industrial sector since it set us back. Even Karl Marx said that in order to switch to communist one has to be a capitalist first, you cannot just switch to socialism from feudalism, failure would be inevitable.

That was the politics of the time brother, you have to understand. Bhutto did exactly same thing in Pakistan. He also nationalized, following Mujib's example. They were in competition in wrong policies from both side. LOL

Saudi Arabia and USA pressuring Pakistan, USA felt recognizing Bangladesh would be the best option forward. USA at first tried with mujib to not become socialist, later on when mujib wouldnt listen. CIA had Mujib killed.

He is our junior in old dolhs so I dont know him i guess. lol his paranoia has lot to do with yaba i guess, paranoia is also a symptom of prolong yaba abuse, him being from old dohs is highly likely he did yaba, every kid there is highy into that. When i was young growing up in old dohs, we used to play in bikal, now kids these go out looking for yaba, its pretty bad.

this is the Gross Domestic Product

Now this is (lower one) GDP per capita up until 1981
seems our GDP was indeed lower then the western wing
before 71, now whats interesting is the peak at 1975,
we were definitely ahead of comparing neighbors
up until the assasination of Mujeeb. Zia took the wheels at
77 and matched the values of 1975 at 1981. Then theres the drop
and we are out of the picture. Irony is at 1975 our
GDP was double that of western wing.

I was going to uttarbongo few days back. After crossing Kaliakoir the roads were so broken that our VOLVO coach had to slow down to 20kph. after like two hours of driving like this came little better road. so the driver just speed up to 70kph and suddenly the coach jumped like 2 to 3 feet in the air. The driver stopped the bus to check what happened and found a 5-7 feet wide 3-4 feet deep ditch in the middle of the road. All the passengers, they were like "How the hell is that possible in the middle of the highway"? After this the passengers requested the driver not to drive fast.

If the GDP is like that then how is this possible.

And what happened to the Padma Bridge!!!

Why did interim govt. cancelled Gulistan flyover!!!

Why are the prices of Jute, paddy falling in local market!!!

Why so high tax in imports!!!

To this if you add the figures for 2000, you will see that under BNP the GDP per capita rate was slower than under the AL govt. post 2008.

And this is despite the fact that BNP was ruling during the BOOM years of early 200 and AL had to manage with the greatest economic crisis since the great depression. Economy wise, you have to hand it to AL, atleast in per capita growth for doing well.

Atleast this what the data bears out.
