Finance Minister AMA Muhith has proposed an allocation of Tk18,398 crore for Defence services including the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces Division.

The minister has placed annual budget proposal around Tk2.95tn (Tk295,100 crore) for 2015-16 fiscal year.

Of the proposed budget, the Ministry of Defence gets Tk18,377 crore and Armed Forces Division receives Tk21 crore.

In his speech, Muhith said: "Due to our success in modernising the armed forces, Bangladesh now tops the list of countries sending troops to the United Nations peace keeping mission."

No it is done as extra spending when money is required for arms imports.

Who is Bangladesh's no. 1 adversary and Bangladeshi defense strategists make their policies keeping which country or entity in mind ?

as abig economy that's % is enough but other small economy here are spending more like Sri Lanka 2010 3.1 and in 2013 2.7 % of GDP Pakistan is around 3%.
