SCO is mainly a quasi security organization mostly around Central Asian region. Bangladesh inclusion does not hurt but does not have much benefit at this point. Bangladesh as a country our security concern is next door, not extra regional affairs. But india subservient regime is always bidding for indian cause - india could not get in as of now after repeated try and trying to use Awami subservient as eyes and ears inside.

Bangladesh immediate focus should be ASEAN and not get into idiotic india instructed venture that has little or no practical use.

If you are suggesting that Bangladesh join ASEAN, I can frankly say that its members were typically reluctant for South Asian nations to join this union.

You don't understand the impacts of joining such groups. The economic gains are often negative but the political pressure that can be exerted on Bangladesh by member countries could be immense in comparison.

What kind of economic gains, and through what mechanisms? Would joining such an organization improve the nation's security and how would it impact our complex relationship with India?

Joining ASEN could be a disastrous. In the future there will want to build road links and so on, and even have open borders. Think before blurting out nonsense.

Just look what happened to the UK. Being a member of the EU means they have had a flood of people from other EU countries. And there is nothing they can do about it as they have integrated too deep into the the EU political and economic union.

ASEAN is not the EU.

We are neither Indian nor Chinese stooges. In real life we don't even interact with either of them, even in the West where we have a chance to. We don't even interact with Bengali Indians.

I interact with a lot of Indians mainly Sikh punjabis also I know a lot of sylheti Hindus and I live in north London, you need to get out more..

I guess the geography thing is not that significant, Laos and Cambodia support Bangladesh's inclusion. More importantly Japan has been pushing Bangladesh to join ASEAN. But the GoB is reluctant to join particularly because joining ASEAN would result in the lose of the bulk of revenues from the import of Japanese automobile and other products because of the ASEAN-Japan FTA.

BD is still like a observer / trying but i dont see in ASEAN easily
every side has advantage and disadvantage
but better we focus on SCO right now
