Bangaldeshi Armoured Corps: MBTs

Having a bad day .. what ?

We were discussing ' Tankable areas".

Any Officer considers The Himalyas tankable needs to be sacked before he hurts himself & the troops he commands .
Go check out what PLA armor is doing in Tibet. Any day they will dash through Ha Valley and the other passes. Fyi, IA had used armor in Kashmir in '48 War.I believe IA maintains an armor brigade facing the Chinese border in Ladakh.

Tibet is a plateau, does not compare with mountains.

. .
Go and talk to PLA. Ask them where their armor will eventually head to.You people still behave like Gen Kaul.
Why don't you ask the PLA if they're foolhardy enough to accept your 'professional' plan to bring in tanks from Tibet into India through the Himalayas?

And FYI,iin 1948, tanks were disassembled, transported to Kashmir, and then reassembled. They weren't driven intact all the way there.

Why do I see two topless women at the bottom of the page? On the right side of the two topless women I see a wrist watch, a pair of lady shoes and another woman wearing a red dress. The link takes me to JABONG COM. Am I supposed to see this?

Al-Khalid tank (Type 90-IIM / MBT-2000) Information Pool | Page 26

Can you prove otherwise ? The tank gun is Pakistani, the armour is Pakistani, the laser warning protection system is Pakistani , the Aorak ERA is Pakistani, the transmission is French, the engine is Ukrainian, the IBMS is Pakistani, the data link system is Pakistani.. Etc etx!!!

Stop being stupid .. AK is based on type9IIM .. It's not he same thing.. MBT-2000 is an export version with Chinese system .. vt-1a is a further downgraded twin of MBT-2000... Which itself was developed by Pakistan .. Meanwhile AKII is going to be revealed at IDEAS 2014..

The whole AK project is under HIT Pakistan n not China... Even the design is Pakistani by a Pakistani tank designer Mr Syed Mohammad Ali.

Nice source! Here is mine: Type 90-II (MBT-2000, Al-Khalid) Main Battle Tank - SinoDefence.com

The tank gun is a copy of Chinese ZPT98 smoothbores, laser designator is Chinese. I don't know much about Al Khalid I,II though.

VT1A is rather a scaled downed variant of T-99 and obviously an upgraded variant of MBT-2000

Here is mine:

ISLAMABAD, April 17: The first locally-produced tank gun is ready for delivery to the Heavy Industries Taxila (HIT) for Al-Khalid and Al-Zarar tanks.

So far the HIT used to get 125 millimetre 'blanks' from France for the two main battle tanks (MBTs) of the Pakistan Army. Blanks are the final shape of the gun barrel prior to its finishing and its fitting into the tank is done at the HIT.

The first blank has been jointly produced at the Heavy Mechanical Complex (HMC) in Taxila by experts of the HIT, the Peoples Steel Mills Limited (PSML) of Karachi and other defence-related organisations, in coordination with the army -- the end-user.

An HIT official told Dawn that the army had given a go-ahead for the production of 50 125mm barrels for the two MBTs at the HMC after a joint team assured it of meeting strict standards.

According to sources, the army and the HIT wanted the barrels to fire at least eight rounds a minute, and for the automatic ammunition handling system, with 24-round ready-to-fire magazine of Al-Khalid tank.

The official said that the manufacturing of the first 125mm tank gun was an achievement of the Strategic Plans Division (SPD) set up in 2000 to improve the control of nuclear operations and monitor and develop coordination among various defence production and research organisations in the country.

The specialised weapons grade steel was manufactured at the PSML and the block of metal was retreated at the HMC which has such facilities under the heavy forge and foundry section. The block of specialised metal is pressed to become a five-metre-long square bar that is forged into a smooth bore 125mm barrel.

The HMC also has specialised facilities of large vertical furnace where the blanks are given heat treatments several times. Since it was the first job for the HMC, experts from other defence organisations monitored the process which took almost two to three months to complete.

The HIT has finalised a deal Rs200 million for 50 barrels which is slightly less than the cost of each barrel procured from France.

The official said that after the completion of 50 tank barrels, the HMC would consider producing artillery guns for the Pakistan Army.

The new barrels are likely to be part of the project for upgraded variants of Al-Khalid II and III now under way at the HIT.

And since than AK has been further improved 9 shots per minute, new armour, new ammo, new sights and the worlds most weaponised tank ... Meanwhile AKII coming soon!

P.S: the gun is based on ukraninan KBA-3.. And superior to tht..
laser designator is Chinese. I don't know much about Al Khalid I,II though.

Lmao .. And ATCOP LS1 laser warning system developed by AL Tech corporation,Pakistan is Chinese?

You wouldn't make a fool of yourself had you actually gone through that link I provided you .. It contains info with relevant sources and insider info.. ! And not just random posts by fanboys !

VT1A main battle tank, a twin young brother of Al-Khalid MBT? | China Defense Mashup

Pakistan spent 10' years on AK .. So don't insult us..

Actually, the info about the Chinese tank gun and laser designator was quoted from the source you mentioned, post #382: Pakistani Tanks

"Produced" and "designed" are not the same things.

VT1A is an upgraded variant of MBT-2000, , it might be a "twin young brother" of Al Khalid since it's heavier than Al Khalid which uses a lighter engine (Ukrainian 6TD-2 diesel) and thus have a marginally lower power/weight ratio and lower speed than Al Khalid.

I'm not insulting you and there's no scope to do so, I just countered your comment that Al Khalid has no Chinese influence.

I didn't mention any post rather the thread..

Thts is why it's is a Pakistani "designed" tank .. Type 90IIM was offered to Pakistan .. Just like Abrams ..We didn't take it .. Instead we spent 10 god damn years developing a new tank based on the type90.....

Wow .. Seriously? Google vt1a it's a export model of MBT-2000... The most advanced tank in the series is AK.. And it's costs much more $$$... And is more capable .. Profits for the vt1a were even shared with Pakistan ...
As for the Ukrainian engine being lighter seriously? 12,00 hp engine is light according to you? And the AK weighs 48 tons with a power to weight ration of 28!

Meanwhile AK II will be using a 15,00 hp engine..

All in all AK I has much more protection (even VARTA 1 APS)...,fire power, data linking capability, rahbar IBMS,LS1 laser protection system,NERA,ERA,more powerful gun etc etc
I'm not insulting you and there's no scope to do so, I just countered your comment that Al Khalid has no Chinese influence.

At which you have failed... If you have any doubts ...fire away!

Future will tell whatever happens in the future. But, many of our tanks are stationed in the Bogra Cantonment in the NW not very far from Chinese border. Do you have any clue what strategy is there?

Less you are not aware, Bangladesh Army have 644 old + new 44 main battle tanks. Also have 140+light tanks.

First make your point, you said the tank guns and laser designators are Pakistani while those are actually Chinese. I'm not saying the entire tank is Chinese design, Pakistan indeed has its share of contribution.

Both VT1A and MBT 2000 are exportable, VT1A is rather an upgraded variant of MBT-2000 (not Al Khalid).

Obviously the profits will be shared with Pakistan since it's jointly developed.

By saying lighter, I meant lighter in weight, both the engines are of 1,200 hp but Al khalid uses a lighter engine that increases its power/weight ratio and the ratio is actually 26hp/t (still higher than VT1A). It's actually a compliment, don't get hyper.
