India's foreign policy is based on self interest, just how it should be. KSA has no leverage over India to use it against Iran. We are not anyone's puppet state. If it serves our interest we would have good relation with KSA, that doesn't mean you are using us. Anyways India generally maintains good relation with all countries and doesn't take sides in conflicts that have nothing to do with us. India doesn't care about KSA vs Iran. We want good relation with both. It's pure business and we would like to keep it that way.

This has nothing to do with Iran or KSA in first place. It all goes to India's neutral stance toward these countries and their likes.
Due to its massive population, India must adopt a moderate foreign policy, which is something rational. In this Globalized Age, no country can afford losing another country that has an economic benefit with to say the least. Just look at how much of a hardship the Iranian people are going through.
However, I did see India making considerable concessions in favor of one group - which the Indian Gov't might believe they are right - against another.
Although I must attest that the move by Iran to hold India's ship wasn't a nice or smart thing to do.
We are not anyone's puppet state
No body is in practice. Politically, practically speaking, the last puppet state ceased to exist in 1992 which is Baathist Kuwait.
But India has Russia, along standing ally that supported her for decades. Yet, that doesn't mean India is a puppet state of Russia.
It's pure business and we would like to keep it that way.
Well, to us, we share a mutually respected cordial relation with India based on economic benefits, security, and diplomacy.

How India manages to remain on perfectly friendly terms wih three sworn enemies (KSA, Israel and Iran) is a lesson in diplomacy for the rest of the world. India does a fine balancing act between KSA and Iran, Iran and Israel, Israel and the arab world. Friends with all, dependant on none.
I think it's quite simple really - stay out of other people's mess, let them sort out their issues themselves. Buy and sell whatever there is to buy and sell. No fantasies of rushing to the help of ummah brothers, or delusions of being the protectors of the faith and such.
I'm afraid these fantasies exist everywhere even in India. The behavior demonstrated by right-wing Indian politicians, hardliners, academic, and MSM outlet proves it when it comes to Hindus persecution whenever it exists just as much as the Ummah drama. No one can deny it. Unless you hold something toward the Muslims in particular, then the whole point will shift from its subjective core into an objective one.
India is a friend to Both Iran and SA . We have no bones to pick in that region nor we want to get involved . Third parties putting their leg in affairs of two countries only deteriorate the situation further .
There are more than 10 thousand Iranian students in My city alone . Also a very few students from KSA and a sizable number from other arab countries ( Libya , Syria , Yemen etc) .
What is interesting is they all get along quite well in Real life . This dick Measuring contest is only in forums .

Apart from the FP India adopts toward China, Pakistan. I always was a big time admirer of India's FP.
But tbqh friend, I was kinda disappointed with the excessive reaction India showed in response to the India Diplomat incidence in the US.
