Anyway most of these guys are supporting the SS apparently because Balasaheb hated Muslims. It's fruitless arguing.

That is a self-made conclusion based on your ignorance.

Thackerey was much more than a anti-muslim. Actually he was not anti-muslim to be exact, he was against muslims who were pro-pakistan or pro-terrorism.

I too hate him for few of his policies but he had done much good work than any so called congressi or secular leader of maharashtra.

Argument has two factor to be meaning ful...

Your argument is based on how Thackerey treated Biharis or UP Bhaiyyas.

Our argument is based on how he helped development of mumbai/maharashtra, his connection with commoner & ability to highlight problems/issues of common people on national stages, his stand against underworld, his efforts in solving drinking problem of mumbaikars including present day bihari/up immigrants, his vision of improving infra by building 50+ flyovers & pune-mumbai express highway which is not only used by Marathi Manoos but every indian & foreigners who invest in mumbai, his soft stand over immigrants settled here and respect locals, his stand towards relation with pakistan which bleeded our city like no country did.

Your argument is as weak as Laloo's threat of Chhat-Pooja at Shivaji Maidan.

But Tum Bihari or UP ka baajaa bajaate raho. Freedom of Speech hai na. Upar se brainwashing by north-indian-sonia-paid media channels.

All I pray is every state have atleast one leader like thackerey who wanted local development & strengthen of linguistic state but was a hardcore nationalist who was loyal to Bharat or India then many clowns jumping up & down here. Thats the best thing that can happen to my nation I love

Yes bro I agree. We are all Indians.

But amongst us Indians, I cannot understand why a Maharashtrian has never become PM.

Maratha's love to fight. If we don't find enemy we fight among ourselves. Sad but true. The day we support each other PM seat won't be a dream

Not the only state which can say that.

Yes definatly but we are the only state which has that potential, will and ability to do at still can't.
All MP unit for their state in LS except Maharashtra

Nothing sad about it.

That's why we Parsis feel at home here - because we are exactly the same.

There were 2 PMs who were born in present day Pakistan. Gulzarilal Nanda and MMS.:D out of 11.

Rajiv Gandhi was born in Mumbai... thats the best u get>

Mr. Yashawant rao chavan , Mr. Shared Pawar were the people to reach almost to it but couldn't make it till end. Sad :( but I kinda glad Mr. Pawar didn't make it ;)

Tacit Congress help

The growth of the Sena could not have been possible without the tacit support of the Congress, its ally for some years. Chief Ministers Vasantrao Naik and Vasantdada Patil allowed the Sena to run amok to derive political advantage. Both had good relations with the Sena and used it as a tool to scotch the growth of the trade union movement in the city. The Sena’s Sthaniya Lokadhikar Samiti was formed in 1972 to generate jobs. The trade union wing, the Bharatiya Kamgar Sena, was a rival to the unions in public sector undertakings and banks, and in the service industry. Its main plank was to fight for jobs for the local people. The Sena established a network of shakhas in the city on the lines of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh.

Later, Thackeray supported the Emergency and Indira Gandhi and her son Sanjay in a bid to ensure that he would not be jailed. His support for the Congress continued at various times, with the party breaking ranks with the National Democratic Alliance and backing Pratibha Patil for President. In 2012, Pranab Mukherjee visited Thackeray to seek his support — which was given with alacrity.

Thackeray’s stand against the Mandal Commission report led to one of his closest lieutenants, Chhagan Bhujbal, parting ways in 1991. This was only a precursor. Thackeray’s preference for his son Uddhav to lead the party led to others like Narayan Rane and later his nephew Raj Thackeray breaking away. The MNS, formed by Raj in 2006, decisively cut into the Marathi vote and helped the Congress in the 2009 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the State.

The Hindu : News / National : Leader who brought ethnic politics to Mumbai melting pot

Artificial creation!! hahahahahahaha. First of all, unlike Delhi, Agra, Pune etc. - both Bombay and Calcutta are completely European creations. This is reflected in its architecture. I like the fact the Sena was adamant in renaming Bombay to Mumbai but was fine with Aurangabad being named after Aurangzeb. LOL - flavor of the soil!

Ignorance at its bliss... Aurangabad was name as Sambhajinagar by Sena Govt. Many maharashtrian use Sambhajinagar to name that city.

The name is accepted for all legal documents. Your congress has not reflected the change in national records.

Isnt it better to shut mouth if you know nothing than keep looking like a fool??? Obviously choice is is yours

You are requested to join the Ku Klux Klan and started a Bombay - ooops Mumbai chapter and terrorize and lynch all those who you see a threat.

That wasn't as stupid as your idea of making mumbai a city like newyork with millions of biharis/ups/bangladeshis living in slum & Shitting on rail tracks. And underworld kicking *** of commoner for hafta every friday eve.

Try again... you can be more stupid.

Because we dont have a strng regional party which has a spine.

Thackerey was the first leader after sawarkar-ambedkar from maharashtrain soil who didnt get on knees before delhi govt mostly congress. We need more such leaders to prove our existence & significance to mark mark on national scene.

To make political violence so routine that it ceases to outrage. To make the strategy of scapegoating and targeting particular ethnic, religious, or political groups part of the calculus of everyday politics. To make fear and intimidation a legitimate, accepted part of political leadership. And to constantly remind any potential critic, in media or otherwise, of the threat of violent reprisal for saying something that Thackeray and his thugs might not appreciate.

Thackeray did not, then, come out of nowhere. He was not the creation simply of disaffected subaltern Maharashtrian communities or of middle-class Maharashtrian communities who felt outsiders had snatched what was their due. He represented something central in Indian political society–not an essentialist, a historical tendency but a historically produced capacity for using violence as a form of political reason, the absence of a coherent vision of solidarity that could respect similarity and difference, and the many deep failures of the post colonial Indian state that our exceptionalist pieties about Indian tolerance, coexistence, and secularism often obscure.

Whats wrong in that?? He supported Pratibha Patil for being Maharashtra, he supported Pranab because of his personal words of commitment due to friendship with him.

Iinfact he was a strong supporter of Sharad Power who was a senior congress leader in those time.

And about supporting Emergency, this man hated our present day democracy for amount of corruption it has. He was by no way afraid of being jailed.

Also something desperately required in your state before things get out of hand and it becomes an extension counter of the House of Saud.

Probably because your Hindus are too scared.

Why riot and blast on a population that is already being swamped?

The House of Saud's unofficial Indian Embassy.

Dude, First thing, Thackerey's sena took violent route only because of dominant underworld in 1990's. It was reaction to violent threats which were threatening peace & common life in maharashtra.

Second, check south indian states, all states have their regional parties strong due to support of locals. As you say I agree Middle class was the strength of Thackerey but Whats wrong with maharashtrians supporting some like Thackerey who connected to masses & peoples from all level in absence of any other good options or in presence of congress puppets who did mujra in delhi to please high-command.

Third, We are indian first than maharashtrian but linguistic states is also a reality. No State either Maharashtra or Gujrat has responsibility of cleanup misgovernance regarding local enforcement & unemployemnet of every state of India. Also Not all maharashtrian support his stand on immigrants from bihar/up but every mumbaikar ( irrespective of caste, religion or ethinicity) support him. Mumbai has limited population and cannot accomodate daily flooding of immigrants anymore.

Please scroll back & read Sir KRAIT's views about mumbai immigration you will get better picture of stand of mumbaikar.
