Bahrain Otokar Cobra [RIOT]

Why you people compare Cobra with TOMA? Cobra is a light armored fighting vechile (L-AFV) while TOMA is a Riot&Crowd Control vechile. The personnel inside TOMA will be a$s kicked if an IED booms. At the same time, Cobra will loose in crowd control. You can't use IR sensored remote controlled machine guns to control the crowd. You can't use Water Cannon against an Infantry/Anti-tank platoon.

Cobra is based as a IFV/AFV. Confrigating it into a "Riot Variant" is completly BS! It's all about using less money for Crowd Control Vechile platforms of Bahrain.

What @Neptune said applies.

TOMA can't be burnt, can't be damaged by thrown rocks and objects, can't be penetrated by light arms' fire. These fvcking bunch of amateurs shouldn't use Cobra for anti-riot purposes. But then If they were smart enough there wouldn't be sectarian conflicts in their country in the first place.

Protesters don't throw Molotov and shoot at policemen with guns, they don't kill. Those are called terrorists. Policemen had to use armored vehicles to protect themselves. As you see, policemen would have been killed by those terrorists if were not protected well.

Nope, terrorists plant land mines and IEDs, they throw RPGs, they use military gear. Cobra is desinged to protect troops against those threats. A molotov cocktail is a home-made incendiary device that can be used by both groups. That's why TOMA has protection against multiple (dozens if not hundreds of) molotov cocktails.

In riot you use riot gear, mine-resistant tactical APCs are not classified as riot gear. It was dumb for Turkish police to acquire them, it is dumb for Bahrain police to procure. It's army material.

It makes no difference whether it's military or anti riot vehicle, what matters is that it's well protected. BTW, I believe that Bahrain went to the Turkish Otokar because Western countries banned selling anti riot vehicles or equipment to Bahrain.

This what happened when Bahraini police used police cars and other equipment that are normally used with protesters:
