BAF to induct Su-30SME from Russia

.
The fundamental problem with BAF is that it doesnt really matter what planes are bought.

It seems as if its a dysfunctional branch.

Truth be told, the real problem probably stems from the fact that Bangladesh is not a meritocracy.
I will not contest about your assertion on BD meritocracy. I was just asking if the Su-30SME news could be true. Whatever it may be, there is no way BAF will not induct +4G fighter planes in the very near future. I think the GoB has set priorities.

BAF is behind but it will come to the fore when BN is quite capable. BD has little money to spare. When it covers the top its bottom is naked. So, it may be that BAF will be given preference when BN is quite strong. BD is unable to cover both the top and bottom simultaneously.

That's because BD as a country is irrelevant in the world. Also, we are not going to disrespect a guy with stature like Imran Khan to that pathetic excuse of a woman. The two are not in the same league
BD is more relevant than Pakistan is. BD is located at the cross-road between China, India and SE Asian countries. Do you think a land-based trade is possible in this region without BD giving nod? It is the 21st Century and the world is planning to do trade through BD. Think of OBOR.

In the case of Pakistan, it is an unimportant desert country without any strategic value. It is true Pakistan was important before only because BD was a part of it. To make Pakistan important again you have to swim to move near BD.

Two points.

I was hoping BAF had some sort of plan of action in place. The thought is there will definitely be a purchase of a modern type soon. However, this recent tender to upgrade 4 Mig-29 really threw me off. Go through and read it. Its bizarre. I can't understand what they are doing at this point.

Secondly, I have to disagree with you about Pakistan. Pakistan is WAY more relevant in geopolitics than Bangladesh. I mean there really isn't even a discussion. To deny that is delusional.

Not to take away from the progress Bangladesh has made. But lets try to stay in reality in this forum.

I think Migs are overhauled from time to time. Has it any relevance to buying new jets?

You do not have to agree with my viewpoint about Pakistan. But, what relevance does it have when it has blocked any passage of goods between India on one hand and Afghanistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and others on the other?

Well, this relevancy matter is not a part of this thread. But, when a guy starts abusing my country saying it is irrelevant I have to answer in kind. Anyway, even if Pakistan opens its border it will not diminish the BD importance as a trading center for three groups of countries. Time will tell that.

Again two points.

Regarding the SU-30. Lets look at the current force structure of the BAF. Go to a website called scramble.nl.
It has the current squadrons that compose the BAF. Apparently theres a half strength Mig-29 squadron based in Dhaka. There are also 2 F-7BG/BGI squadrons. So thats a total of 2.5 squadrons (lets just call it 3). Theres another combat capable unit with the L-39 and FT-7B. And finally, there is the Yak-130 unit. The later 2 are more for training but are included because they are theoretically combat capable. In reality there are 3 frontline units.

Overhauling is routine. But the questions is long term, what is the BAF envisioning? Are they gonna keep the 8 Fulcrums in service? Apparently so... Then where does the new type fit in? And what is the new type? An Su-30 is gonna bring different qualities than a Mig-35 or J-10.

Also, does the BAF actually have a war plan? I am highly skeptical. I dunno man. I am more American than I am Bangladeshi. But i do have emotional ties to my people. I fear the BAF is a cream puff air force.

There has to be a serious effort from ground up to make a capable force. That includes recruitment of the best and brightest. You don't need to re-invent the wheel. Why not just take some help from more capable air arms in terms of training and tactics. And then introduce the proper aircraft that will enable the tactical and strategic objectives to be carried out.

In terms of Pakistan. I'm generally disappointed by the vitriol directed towards the Bangladeshis here. Not by all, but a fair amount. That being said, no need to depart from reality in efforts to refute them.

In any case, there really needs to stop this back and forth genital measuring between Pakistanis and Bangladeshis. At the end of the day we are all muslims. I believe both Pakistan and Bangladesh potentially share a common threat although some in Bangladesh don't seem to recognize that.

Pakistan leads in every way against Bangladesh.
Bangladesh is ahead of you in almost every conceivable ways except for the military. Bangladesh GDP par capita is higher than PK. Even our nominal is higher than yours with your currency of today (122 to $1?) even though we have 25% less population than PK. Our trade balance is astronomically better than PK's where you import so much and export is low that you have to get bailed out constantly. We have 32% debt to GDP ratio while for PK it's higher than 67%. Much of your government money goes to debt servicing.

Life expectancy, HDI, child mortality rate, literacy rate, women empowerment, homicide rate, almost anything you can think of, BD is better at it. Our growth is also much more inclusive than PK's.

You are correct. BD has a lot to catch up with Pakistan on that.

PS. I have already read the piece before
on the internet one ca turn a sunny day to night .a white truth to dark black lie .i stop reading long posts here since i learn how to check statics from world bodies .

.
Pakistan is ahead in poverty reduction, electricity connection (percentage of people with connection to electricity) and infrastructure. No denying that. In fact, I believe Bangladesh is not only worst, the difference is too big between PK and BD in infrastructure front.

but at the end they buy 8 j7s :p:

Another troll post. Nice job.

What I will say is this. At least from what has been offically stated, BAF WILL buy additional combat aircraft in the near future. This has been publicly stated by officials.

The question now is what? The options ARE the SU-30, SU-35, Mig-35, J-10.

Less likely are the JF-17 and Europeans types like Gripen or Typhoon.

I can never imagine BAF getting Rafale or any US aircraft.

So those are your choices.

What do YOU think BAF will end up buying?

The most likely is the Mig-35.

However, I personally think Bangaldesh should push hard to go European and get the Gripen.

Why not? Other than cost, I can't see why Sweden/UK wouldn't sell.

It is our problem. BAF will certainly buy one or two types of plane to a little chagrin of yours. Better you keep busy yourself with under-performed JF-17 with the twin problems of a high degree of drag and slow speed.
