Babur vs Krishnadevaraya in 16th century

First,Babur's advantage in any battle was his cannon..sometimes mounted and guarded these cannons worked for himm..in the battle of Panipat against Lodi,his success was simply luck..

in both battle,it was sound of cannon that made war elephants stampede their own man and in both cases,the abandon of ally caused them to loose the battle..

Krishnadevaraya had a huge army...example..only in the campaign against Raichur, it is said that 703,000 foot soldiers, 32,600 cavalry and 551 elephants were used..

with this kind of brute force,he captured whole Deccan...

I'd say,both Babur and Krishnadevaraya would won in their home turf...

When the battle did not take place. You guys can write whatever logic, assumptions or fairytale in the end. What Babur gave to India was the Mughul Dynasty which the world admired and respected. Whereas the other guy is hardly heard of in the world. And I bet a lot of north Indians would also not have heard about the guy.

Now there might be other sites also beautiful, but none can give the nostalgic feelings of romance. Many people in the world dream of visiting India just for Taj Mahal. It is an important icon which India should be proud of.
Now the other guy, Krishna something might be an awesome ruler, but I was talking about the legacy left behind by him or his heir. Lets not start competing with all the wonders of the world which this guy did not do. So no hard feelings. All I want to show is that since both did not go to battle, it is pointless to assume who would have won. The best way to compare between them was the legacy left behind.

i don't know about war........but i live near humpi in karnataka(which was center and capital of Krishnadevaraya dynesty) more than 3 year ,was working with jsw steel .....i have see that place.......beautiful

Nah - I don't lose my cool on these trivial things but take the opportunity to educate many - Granted Taj Mahal is an icon but the only problem with you is while taking a pot shot at the North Indians above for the lack of awareness, you exhibit the same behavior. In short, Mughal architecture did not penetrate South India much while Vijayanagara dynasty's architecture penetrated all 4 South Indian states - For example, there is no Mughal architecture of significance in Tamilnadu but there are many significant architectures in Tamilnadu influenced by Vijayanagara architecture built by Nayaks the chieftains of Vijayanagara - For example, there are two significant ones - Srirangam temple and Madurai Meenakshi temple.

krishnadevaraya is famous in south india.all the south indians proudly claim that diamonds used to be sold on roads like some ordinary vegetables on roads in his reign.people say there were no poor in his kingdom and foreginers used to visit it for trade and to buy diamonds and pearls.is it true?

i watched many temples of tamil nadu on tv and movies.I also watched tajmahal on tv itself.going by the looks tajmahal is equal to the dust of left boot of those temples.its all about publicity.tamilians should start marketing extensively their temples.i dont think there are any other constructions in india which stand equal to them.muslims have destroyed most of the temples in other places and thankfully TN was never ruled by muslims(for a long period).so their constructions still exist

There are various takes on it. There were good and bad parts to it but on the whole it was an exploitative system where just 100 odd families were living in fil.thy luxury while the common men were badly exploited. There are accounts that as much as 25% of the GDP was spent by these 100 odd families and of the wretched poor conditions of most of the population.

Whereas the other guy is hardly heard of in the world. And I bet a lot of north Indians would also not have heard about the guy.

Ignorance is never a virtue and should not be projected as one.

Just like many in Pakistan may not know of IVC or pre-Islamic glorious history of India and may think it was all jahiliyah before Qasim. That doesn't necessarily make it true.

You have got the response on what the "other guy" did.

Taj Mahal is something that we think of as wholly Indian, built by Indian workers and artisans with Indian money and Indian material.

There is no reason to associate it just with a particular ruler who happened to commission it.

And one building (or some buildings) doesn't change the overall exploitative and many time bigotry filled history of the Mughals.

I have been to many of these temples and I fully concur with you.

There is a majesty to the architecture of many of these temples. Taj mahal is just nothing compared to many of them.

I agree it is just about marketing. There were many great temples in North India as well but the uncivilized barbaric invaders destroyed all of them.

I am glad, the fil.th didn't reach the South and couldn't plunder as much there. Even though I have seen sections of temples in deep South destroyed by this or that invader fil.th.

Not much idea but diamond mines of India were mainly in South. In North India, everyone is familiar with folklore of Krishnadevaraya and Tenali Rama, there was a famous cartoon series in Hindi on them. People has lots of respect for Vijayanagar Empire that it flourished and preserved in South, when North was on rampage by invasions.
