Australian cops joke about Indian's electrocution: Times of India

Thanks for the sentiment my friend.

We are quite used to that though. Especially in Hong Kong where a lot of last names are "Ho", and more rarely, "Fok". One of the most common names in the mainland is "Wang".

So yeah, it happens a lot. Luckily my last name is one of the neutral ones (Chen/Chan) so I don't get too many problems with it. :azn:

how is this racist?

notice how quickly indians play the race card...?

Yeah? so what will you say when a Pakistani burns to death while a bunch of goras gloat and laugh and say 'awesome' and 'mind blowing'and 'how bloody funny'???

Honestly are you really that foolish? or is your hatred blinding u?

:P Arabs are more racist, and we Pukhtuns are as much racists so who's legacy it is .

BTW if some people were not over-sensitive towards Indians i would have been openly racist if there were some solid reasons to be racist sometimes when others bring up stupid allegations

I see nothing wrong if racism has some valid basis

A distant relative of mine living in England went to work in Saudi Arabia. He came back to England a few months later complaining about racism. He claimed if your skin is not white, the Saudis don't think you are smart enough, consequently you get paid less than a white guy.

Yes, the Arabs were had by the Whities and still are, just like we also got had by them. The Arabs developed a liking for them, some of us developed have developed a liking for the Arabs. The whities hate both the Arabs and us. We hate the whities but we like their dollars and their pounds. And so it goes on.......................................

If we do a simple derivative of your last name, you sure don't wanna know what it means in southern Bangladesh !

Maybe its only the Indians who face racist discrimination in western nations and other places. In that case, its just a matter of India vs the rest...but I suspect Chinese & Pakistanis face the same as well and it could be a case of West(ie Whites) vs the rest.

As economy slides, so does tolerance. No wonder these issues have falred up more since last two years. I fear it will get worse.Ive personally faced certain situations in Mainland Europe. US comparatively was very friendly. Its the western grand strategy(still driven by Anglo-Saxons) to divide and rule and hence the India-Pakistan divide and India-China divide. There are many more divides that have thrived such as Vietnam, Korea's etc.

If India and Pakistan were to reconcile, this grand strategy will blow in their faces. But we know thats well nigh impossible...in the current scenario.Back to racism, this will come back to bite the folks at some point of time...For instance, the brouhaha raised by England and some countries over CWG is well coordinated and will come back to bite London and Glasgow in 2012 & 2014.Indians are not going to forget and forgive in a hurry. We could have an army of internet bloggers reporting the issues in the games with the exact same angle as they have today on Delhi. This is what racism breeds. Revenge.

The one in bold was amongst the names being announced. I know it might sound funny, and it probably did for non-Mandarin speakers, but hey, thats where you show your class, right?

1. we all face racism. Its just that Indians are too sensitive to this issue.

2. Many of the things the media in your own country and in these goras' countries were based on ground facts i.e complaint about cleanliness and infra and you also know that.

3. Rest anything that is exaggerated then yes i support you over that.

4. Yup Indian propagandists on blogs are quite active lolzz so Aussies and Oz have to be careful

Many Indians. Bangladeshis and Pakistanis all with dark skin are earning big bucks. The jobs there are Not on the basis of skin.

But the bias has more to do with financial status

4 sacked, 15 face disciplinary action in 'racist emails' case in Australia

Four Australian police officers have been sacked in connection with the circulation of racist emails and disciplinary action has been initiated against 15 others.

While four have been sacked, one has been demoted, another five have been fined up to $3000 and placed on 12-month good behaviour bonds for taking part, an AAP report said today.

Top police officers were caught in a racist e-mail scandal joking about the electrocution of an Indian train passenger and suggesting that it could be "a way to fix the Indian student problem" in Melbourne.

The emails that were probed contain pornographic, homophobic, racist and violent material.

The police officers of the Australian state of Victoria circulated sickening video footage showing the death of the man, who was travelling on the roof of a crowded train in India, 'The Herald Sun' reported today.

Victoria Police said today it would resume disciplinary hearings this week into the circulation of pornographic and racist emails within the force.

Nine officers will front the disciplinary panel on October 12 and October 15, with six to be heard the following week. Two officers quit rather than face the secret hearings.

In March, a sergeant resigned and committed suicide after being involved in the investigation.

State chief commissioner Simon Overland and premier John Brumby have condemned the actions of the police involved.

Overland described the material as "disturbing, offensive and gross", while Brumby said the racist e-mail was "contrary to the views and values at the heart of the Victorian community".

They have been allegedly circulated by officials of all ranks, including three superintendents.

Very good.

There should be no tolerance for racism.

That's right.

As a side note, the name "Fok" is Cantonese actually, and sounds like "fork". There are a lot of Cantonese people in Malaysia, so I'm not surprised that one of the tennis players has that name. The Mandarin equivalent is "Huo".
