Australia will stand up to China to defend peace, liberal values and the rule of law: Julie Bishop

. . . . . . . . . .
It was Bishop lying and not the newspapers, so why shift the blame to the media?

She didn't say it. The newspaper reported the wrong thing. The Chinese newspaper misquoted her in an interview she gave to another media organization.

Well, since it was a (non-tabloid) Australian newspaper that first reported this, one may assume it's close to the source of information and thus the information must be correct. ;)

Please read posts and links carefully. The Chinese newspaper was quoting an interview that Bishop gave to an Australian newspaper(Fairfax media) the line that they reported she said "stand up to China" is not a direct quote of what she actually said and they confirm this in the link i just posted.
The phrase "stand up to China" was not reported as a direct quotation.

So no, she did not say it. You should read carefully instead of trying to spread misinformation and pretend everything is a huge conspiracy.

Really? Chinese media is famous as liar and propaganda tool, but intentional misquoting a representative of a foreign country is that we haven't seen before.
