If ONE member considers a word as offensive therefore the word should be banned, you are opening a whole new can of worms.
The perhaps maturity, self restraint, and self policing would not even come close to that can of worms, correct ? But asking for maturity, self restraint, and self policing from you guys is like asking to win the Powerball Lotto.

For example, I do feel "50 cents army" very offensive to me when it has been constantly used by some members to refer to Chinese members who happened to have different opinions. Please ban its use from now. Thanks! @Chinese-Dragon @AndrewJin @Shotgunner51
See comment above. If you do not want to see '50 cents army', then debate like adults instead of slinging personal insults then thanking each other for it. If you behave like a '50 cents army' drone, you will be called one.

This is another thing with you guys. You create problems, then when you get a taste of your own medicine, you cast yourselves as innocent victims and report 'offensive' posts. The Viets and the Indians seen enough of this.

I don't know what your logic is. You are acting like a troll. Where is this "Professional" come from?

As I said on the other post, the word itself is not insulting. (The same case as with Vietcong).

I could accept the usage of the word "Vietcong" when what the member is talking about the NLF during Vietnam War. That is the proper usage of the word. Even tho the word was created with insulting tone in mind.

Problem is, when you refer to a normal Vietnamese which have nothing to do with the war that ended 40 years ago, or worse yet, in this case, it was refer to a whole nation. Then it would be a slur, basically, why do you use the word Vietcong but not Vietnam or Vietnamese?

The same goes to 50 Cents Army. There actually have such a thing as 50 Cents Army, and if we are referring to the censorship in Chinese Internet usage, then the term 50 Cents Army should not be as insulting as we are describing the actual situation. However, calling any Chinese "50 Cents Army" is not acceptable. it will be a slur

My comment is here to stay:

I am not sure if these is actually something called 50 cents army, it all started with a rumor about a training meeting. So far, I have not known anyone who has been paid to post on Chinese Government's behave.

In PDF, when people used this term, it is obvious they are referring someone to a paid agent, which is a direct insult to my free will. As Mod said in the post that I replied to, if someone feels offended, it should be banned, I just followed the same logic.

Thank you very much for understanding my point of view.

@waz , @Horus , @WebMaster , @Chinese-Dragon , @Hu Songshan , sirs, I believe that action needs to be taken as to the hate-filled negative rating saga against a respected member @Keel and then @terranMarine .

This kind of irresponsible use of one's privileges may not be accepted.

The used term is definitely not racist, it is entirely political. It has nothing to do with color, religion or sect. The said term is a historical-political reference and also being used widely by the same people (in the historical-academic context) against whom the above member claims the term is being used.

I do hope and wish that you would take immediate action and solve the issue once and forever. I would request you to decide whether the term is racist or not and take action accordingly.

If you decide the term is racist, that's final I would respect your opinion. But the term should not be abused by a member holding no moderator but negative rating power.

Regards.
the term "vietcong" was given by the West, with offensive intent. the guerrilla soldiers never called themselves "vietcong".

besides, the guerrilla army was dissolved after the Vietnam war. Calling Vietnamese "vietcong" is not only wrong, historically incorrect, but provocation for most southern vietnamese. last but not least only a few Vietnamese are communists. VCP came to power as it is, and must been seen in historical context.

just you chinese using "vietcong" and "monkey" to describe vietnamese does not mean it is ok. whatever your excuse is.

When does the word Vietcong becomes an insult to the Vietnamese? Let us ask our American friends if that is an insult. Any American friend in here? LOL

.
i don't get it. why is it offensive for them to be called Communist? i can't imagine how can other country, like Democratic countries are offended by calling them for example : Ame-demo (American Democrats).

it's funny that anything can be considered offensive to Chinese members here. why don't we just shut down the site and rename it "Chinese Defense Forum "Again".
once again, why do you think Viet equals communist?
can I call you Indo Islamist?

why do you call the americans and ask them if a term is an insult for vietnamese?

my father once served in the southern vietnamese army, fighting against the northern vietnamese army, as well as "vietcong". calling him as "vietcong" is insult, wrong and provocation.

get it?

stick your "LOL" into elsewhere...

you are so rude, that is not good
I get angry seeing so many idiots.

Maybe, I don't know, the 50 cents thing may have been rumour, but that does not put the term more legitimate or any illegitimate.

In PDF, all sort of term that have directly related to something other than the proper usage is most likely a slur anyway. Otherwise we would not see them using those term to begin with.

I find it very amazed if you think my quotation of definitions from various reputatable dictionaries were viewed as "manipulation".

Again if I (another "someone") who find "Chinese Communist" or "commie" as offensive would you do the same to give "-ve rating" and possibly ban the poster for his comment (s)?

I think @Horus and @WebMaster are the persons in charge of of reviewing the validity of ratings
Please do so if you are another one responsible for the requests for a review all of my ratings
Thanks!

Read my comment on "Vietnam" below on top of my coments above

And I am not answering random comments of the "Vietcong" debate on this thread anymore so if you still want to have a go at it further please direct your comments to the thread " Abuse of Rating System" stated below

FYI,I have myself rated negative to Indian for using term ''Bengali'' instead of Bangladesh after he accepted his mistake as well.
1-For posters like @Götterdämmerung who thinks that forum has been infiltrated by Americans are wrong.I have taken decisions against will of jhungary as well, many times and he has compromised. What jhungary has done outside the forum,in real life is not my business..and I feel deep regret for poor Iraqi children as well. But if you claim that I should react in hateful manner then we will become more strange and alien to them.I had conversations with him in this regard and I have observed his psyche,he has not appeared to be a trigger happy to me,but has followed orders. His senior deserves the treatment for commanding him and training him like that-again it has nothing to do with forum. On contrary to that,I have seen him unhappy over this.I don't want him ever to think that his senior was correct and this is something which you will never understand. You need maturity for this.
2-Meanwhile on the other hand, I also had sour interaction with Mr.Gambit, and I have many times debated and acted against his wishes and you can confirm this to both gentlemen.
3-Again,you are parroting same..showing me references of oxford dictionary and distracting the main focus of my speech.
Yes,if @Dungeness finds a word offensive and upon his request other member keeps on using him to humiliate him or to troll him then he should be treated in same manner.
4-I don't take decisions on basis of nationalities. For me Chinese,American,Indian all are same.Whosoever is right will get what he likes.
5-Again,I am not denying to review your case, but you didn't come to me.Instead, you opened up a debate with me arguing that I am wrong, biased and unfair and you are correct.
6-Again,learn manners and avoid using words which are considered as offence by others first of all, once you will take step forward, then I will look into your rating issue.
7-Since,nobody is interested to discuss the main topic, therefore the thread has served it's purpose.

regards
