Asw Carrier /Helicopter Carrier in PN.

ddg-89_050413-n-5526m-016.jpg

Roumors are that PAF might get 7 more FFG-8.

Mmm, that's not McInerney. It's not even a Perry class frigate. It's an Arleigh Burke flight IIA destroyer (roughly 2x the displacement of McInerney).

well if not helicopter carrier than buy 20 ASW helicoprters and keep them very near to karachi and gwadar shores for any indian subs

.
what about the battle group around it(Aircraft carrier) .
tats approx 1.1 bill to buy and 2-2.5 bill to get the other ships.
Will britan sell??? the biggest question to be answered

i think u got me wrong , what i meant was that total investment on the carrier would be 600 mil$
I expect britain to give the carrier for free and charge 400 mil$ for repair and upg
and pakistan can get the airwing of carrier for around 200 mil$
comprising of 12 secondhand harriers and 8 helicopters

IF you ask my opinion then i would like the indian navy to acquire an invincible class carrier . coz the Indian navy can surely afford to pay 400-500 mil$ for its upg and we already have harriers and plenty of helicopters , if required then we can get 8-10 second hand harriers as well for around 100 mil$
The simple reason being that watever u say , invincible class is still better than 50 yr old viraat , and will be able to serve us till 2030
AS U MUST BE KNOWING , HMS ILLUSTRIUS IS DUE FOR RETIREMENT IN 2012 SO I THINK BOTH PAKISTAN AND INDIA SHOULD BID ON THE 2 CARRIERS INSTEAD OF LETTING THEM BEING SENT TO A SHIP BREAKING YARD IN 2020 OR BEING CONVERTED INTO A MUSEUM SHIP OR WORST INTO A CASINO BY CHINA:pdf::cheers::victory::wave:

AND YES PAKISTAN SHOULD BE LOOKING TO ACQUIRE A 5000 TON SECOND HAND DESTROYERS , AT LEAST 3 0F THEM
AND CHINA HAS PLENTY OF DESTROYERS BUILT DURING THE 70s and 80s which can fill this role
And finally the rule of thumb is that u should have 10-12 frigates and destroyers in service , to be able to mentain one CBG with 7-8 escorts , and pakistan is on course to operate a fleet of 12 frigates:pakistan:

Buddy, dont be naive....PN does not require a frigate from China thats developed in 70s and 80s.....

PN going for at least 3 new frigates will be perfectly fine....as someone said earlier, "its quality over quantity".....

Cheers!!!

Just a thought....

ACs and Helicopter-Carriers and vulnerable in modern warfare....given new detecting capabilities along with better anti-ship missiles....its not always possible to be under protection from frigates or destroyers during a war, as every unit has their own functional importance....

However, i say if PN is willing to spend money to develop itself....why dont you go for the "swarming tactic"......here "quantity over quality" but still affordable....... --- Buy new missile boats, torpodo boats and some NH-90 Helos from France if you can (its a very good surface combatant and deadly against submarines; the price tag is $19 million; first rolled out in 2007).... NHIndustries NH90 - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

And as you already have frigates in your plan and submarines too, this tactic will give you a good upper-hand....these units fast and can scare the hell out of destroyers and ACs....

Just my 2 Cent....

Cheers and salam from Bangladesh!!!

Read This

Military experts such as John Keegan have noted that in any future naval conflict between reasonably evenly matched powers, all surface ships—including aircraft carriers—would be at extreme and disproportionate risk, mainly due to the advanced capabilities of satellite reconnaissance and anti-ship missiles. Contrary to the thrust of most current naval spending, Keegan therefore postulates that eventually most navies will move to submarines as their main fighting ships, including in roles where submarines play only a minor or no role at the moment.

Then why is the RN shifting from Invincible class carriers (The one which can operate only jump jets) to CTOL Elizabeth class carriers (for F-35s or even a possible naval version of the Typhoon).

UK can afford and maintain 4 such ACs buddy...Pakistan cannot, given its limitations of resources, funds and also off course, your doctrine....

Read my post above....i hope that gives you a better view....

FYI I was not commenting on Pakistan's needs..... I was commenting on the point about the future of aircraft carriers.

. .
i don't think so that pn can afford helicopter carrier and also there coastal border is also too short so they don't need it.

.
I don't see how PN would need one. I just don't see it being funded it is pointless. You could join the turkish LPD project but us needing one is obvious since we have a huge coast and we do require a good sized amphibious assault/landing force.

Yes, precisely...!!!

Moreover, Pakistan has a small water area to defend and hence as i said before they need to afford the best they can have within their limitation....PN needs to assess the strategic importance and can plan accordingly, keeping their neighbors in mind....

Btw, JIGS bro....there were news that Bangladesh may buy Subs and Milgem class corvettes from Turkey....can you please enlighten on that matter......i am really excited about the possibility of this deal with Turkey....

Thanx...

The Bangladesh Navy plans to eventually induct twelve to sixteen MİLGEM class guided missile corvettes with at least 4 vessels inducted over the next 10 years. The vessels of Bangladesh will be constructed at the Khulna Shipyard (KSY) which is owned and operated by the Bangladesh Navy.

As for subs i think the deal was for 3 or 4 Type 209s built in Turkey. Which are German subs but we will be doing the build for Bangladesh.

Yes, i have come over this news before as well....but the point of asking you is that you are a Turkish member....who would know better about such agreement that took place with your country....any external links would be helpful, like from your online daily newspapers or other sites....

And will the building at KSY be a venture or is there a possibility of ToT....please bear with my ignorance.....

Thanks again....

Cheers!!!
