Asia needs new military balance, not led by one major power: Indonesia's top general

Incorrect my friend.
Su-35 is not superior to the F35.

Su-35 is a souped up version of the Su-30MKI replacing may of the Israeli and European parts with Russian ones and minor design changes. It incorporates RCS reduction measures.

F-35 however is a 5th generation fighter which is built for being a VLO aircraft.

In short, F35 is superior to the Su-35.

I read from military analyst article. It can be right or wrong of course, but not using simple analogy that you just bring at your post.

The most obvious are Chinese that may claim islands. The second are islander themselves that may claim nationhood as it happened Timor which gained independence. May be will have small island states protected by foreign states.

Asia needs new military balance, not led by one major power: Indonesia's top general - Yahoo News

JAKARTA (Reuters) - Asia needs a new military balance that is not led by one major power, Indonesia's top general told Reuters on Monday, as the region becomes increasingly concerned over China's rapid expansion in the South China Sea.

"There are significant changes in the stable and calm conditions that existed in the region a decade ago," military commander Moeldoko said at Indonesia's military headquarters.

"So everyone has an opinion that China is a threat to the neighborhood. The region needs a new balance."

As a result of heightening tensions in the region, Indonesia plans to upgrade its military forces in Natuna and Tanjung Datu, areas of the South China Sea near China's claims.

Moeldoko, who retires as military commander in July, wants to bring together the United States, Japan, China and Southeast Asian nations at a regional defense summit next year in the hopes of easing tensions.

China claims most of the potentially energy-rich South China Sea, disputed in parts with the Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, Brunei and Taiwan, and denies accusations its actions in its own territory are provocative.

Some countries that need to increase their defense acquisition in earnest:

1. The Philippines; for a nation with an economy that is $120 Billion more than Vietnam's, is militarily weaker than the latter. The Philippines needs to increase its defense acquisition and model their program with that of its larger neighbor to the south, Indonesia.

2. Indonesia. I have a lot of respect for this particular country, mostly they have a fine ground force; Indonesia needs to focus on increasing their naval power, mostly their surface fleet and asw capabilities. The country, overall, is developing quite well.

The most obvious are Chinese that may claim islands. The second are islander themselves that may claim nationhood as it happened Timor which gained independence. May be will have small island states protected by foreign states.

Who will support separatism in Indonesia? You do have to understand that the TNI (Tentara Nasional Indonesia) has a prolific history of dealing with communist rebels, separatist rebels as well as radical islamic terror rebels, right? Ranging from the Maluku Selatan Movement, Gerakan Kemerdekaan Minahasa, Free Papua Movement, Aceh Free Movement etc --- these groups have been effectively put down or are dying. The Indonesian Army is the largest in the region, and with years of battlefield experience, so the concern of external intervention in the country is nill. As for Timor Leste, the reason for the civil war there was because when the TNI invaded the island, there was unrestrained brutality in regards to the TNI---over 120,000 Timores were dead during the military operations there, which eventually led to a UN intervention. Indonesia has learned quite since then in how to deal with separatists -- one can see this in how Indonesia has developed Irian Jaya (Papua) into integrating with the country.

Su-35 is just an upgrade to Su-30. While F-35 is a new stealth platform. Even the South Koreans and Singapore have ordered F-35 while Indonesia, Malaysia and Phillippines have weak air forces.

Not anymore we be having our assets to boost our airforces

SU35 is pretty good for country like Indonesia..
High load and high capacity..
enough to deal with potential enemy around you
F35 has too small load, which is not suitable for big country like Indonesia..
And your potential enemy does not have stealth fighter...
