Jallikattu is a thousands of year old tradition, having records for its existence from the times of indus valley civilisation. Jallikattu was recorded in history even before india was recorded. Indian states were divided based on language, only to preserve their language and culture. This is just like the Hindi imposition on the 1960s, but in a legal way. Killing other animals isn't a crime and don't have ban, anything against cow/bull/beef is a crime. Peta asking to ban the killing of other animals also, why the court didn't banned them yet? Kodi pandem is equivalent of Jallikattu in AP. Both are celebrated during Pongal/Sankranthi festival in mid January when the farmers earn their crop money for the year.

No offence but many here and in N India have no idea on the tradition behind Jallikattu. You should come here and see.

Jallikattu Bulls are taken care of like their son. Their only job is to practise and practise all round the year for the competition. Some are very affectionate and can be controlled only by their owners. The sport is very prestigious.
Some people in order to make bulls vigorous make some idiotic practises like giving alcohols, chilli powder on its a-ss etc. The total duration of each Bulls in competition is less than 5 min. Some NGO's are working only to have it banned.

Its a practise from Time immorial. Hope u know about IVC Bull fight seal. If Dravidians were original inhabitors of IVC, then such ancient is our practise.

a few clarifications

1) this is an ancient sport that dates back to IVC - refer to picture attached below
2) those evil practices that you highlighted are pan Hindian but the issues I highlighted are specific to Tamilnadu
3) Unlike Aryan Hindu tradition e.g Sati etc , these Tamil cultural traditions are not evil - a study on ancient Tamil literature will reveal that all these evil you mentioned were Aryan imports, thus your comparison is in valid and has no relevance to Tamils (as they have nothing in common with rest of Indians)
4) there is no need for Dravidian tradition to evolve but for the preservation of an ancient IVC culture/language / sports etc
5) India/Indians should stop imposing their fake Aryan values on Dravidians - which are opposite poles
