Sunny boy..... each regiment has 40 guns not 30 and there are more than 1 regiments armed with panters! and who knows HIT might be producing it as we speak... otherwise only initially only 30 panters were ordered and ToT was bought.
As for the chinese A-100E it has more range(120km vs 60km smerch) and accuracy than those 38 odd malfunctioning russian smerch launchers tht u operate...

this is a professionalist site Military Factory not .pk, you got as much tot for guns as much chinese have for su30mkk just documentation for spares. if so why are you enlisting south korean help to make 155mm shells! I expect if it was tot it was part of the contract.....

we have 60 -80 of those smerches and we make semi guided pinaka as well and are now at critical stages to produce smerch

your indigenous artillery is like air invisible but mixed! :cheesy:

This years budget has increased the amount in expenses for Army...it would be a pity spending in importing weapons of foreign origin....Indian should seriously consider of being self reliant..Indigenous products of standard quality won't only save money but would also be helpful in boosting the economy if they are exported. I am hopeful LCH or Rudra will find its way in the countries already using Dhruv...why not DRDO and other associated organization plan of other projects which would not only make India self reliant but also a arms exporter...rather than an importer.

The TATA howitzer although not 100% Indian...definitely is an option the Army should consider about...even if it is not as good as the Americans it surely is better than ages old 150mm canons....Armed forces must try to accommodate Indian products...and with time the technology can surely be improved.

Mate these things don't happen overnight, they take many, many years. India is going to get there one day but for now it is stuck with imports. Considering that the equipment India buys is world-class, it isn't a huge loss!

But it seems that the Indian armed forces have a tendency of dragging things with Indigenous projects...be it Tejas or Arjun...their demands keep changing..well when the concept of these projects evolved technology were different from the product when the projects materialize after decades of work...no doubt there are newer technology in the horizon...it does not mean that the product must not be included...one can induct and use it...and further up gradation of technology can simultaneously be imparted.

May be when they ask for something they have current situation in mind without the future situational awareness So thats why they keep changing their standards of equipment performance and cause massive delays

Like I said-these things take time and by that I mean time to devlop the tech and time for people's mindsets to change. There is some truth in the fact that the Indian military leadership has been adverse to adopting certain home-grown tech (ARJUN,LCA are good examples) but then, in many ways, they are fair to be skeptical. Also when you consider that India now has the means and ability to procure the best gear from almost anyone on the planet it means any Indian-origin tech has to match these foreign products and for a defence industery as young as India's this is an uphill battle.

But, bit by bit these things will certainly change. We can already see the groundwork being laid.

Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) produces and offers for export M483A1 155mm artillery projectiles containing 88 M42/M46 dual purpose improved conventional munition (DPICM) grenades.[9] The South Korean company Poongsan entered into a licensed production agreement with POF in November 2004 to co-produce K-310 155mm extended-range DPICM projectiles in Pakistan at Wah Cantonment. While the ammunition is being produced for Pakistan’s army, the two firms have said they will also co-market the projectiles to export customers

These are Base bleed 155mm shells... we had been producing other 155mm shells since long.

Kiddo india doesnt have 60-80 but 36-38 (which as of right now are defective) in a contract worth 500 million usd! Also india is to produce smerch munition not smerch launchers.... son do read what u preach!

We produce panters,A-100E Mbrl and have our own indegenous arty system under development..

IF you made panther then why no mention of panther production facility in 2009? You guys just upgrade m198a3 to a5. 60+ smerch already exist what's more the new ammo gives 90 - 120km range with better guidance and state of art tech. new ammo may even be 170km as per link. that article is old.

155mm bleedbase gives 39km range for that you had to go to SK (Gangnam style)!

your artillery is in planning, our is in PRODUCTION!
