Afghanistan always proved itself quick sand we should try our level best to stay out of this mess, they have nothing left to save from destruction but we have many things on stake. Our enemies would keep feeding them with arms and we have to fought a long never ending war which may resulted in weaken economy, Govt, army and rifts in Pakistani society in the name of Islam.

But neither are we invading them or have any such intention, we have every right to secure our borders.

I must say we should send at least Al Zarar Tank, they may have large number of RPGs. Don't give them war trophies.

I know we should have tried to remain as neutral as possible but unfortunately it is not an ideal world. The Afghans are attempting to unify their country by saying Pakistan is the aggressor but they do not know in this they might face some real problems. Not to say Pakistan would also find her self in trouble. But some times things get out of control in such ways that one can not foresee, which is the reason Pakistan is facing this situation.

If sanity prevails on both sides tonight and they do not act immaturely then things would be better tomorrow however it does not seem that way.

The number of Afghan refugees in Pakistan is already down from 3.9 million to 1.1 million, and it is further reducing slowly. There are another 1 million Afghanis estimated to be in Pakistan, but they are mostly economic migrants and in Pakistan due to the lax border controls.

The actual Afghan population is 3-5 times the estimated population of Afghans. There 3 decades of hosting has witnessed mushroom growth absent any watchful observation. I don't know where you got the figure from but NARA is not a reliable source as a majority of Afghans, especially those who were born here, were able to get NADRA cards........even if they pose as Pakistani citizens, they are not.

Agreed..still Pakistan should have accepted them when they came into Power irrespective of who brought them. They do not like Pakistan because they know that Pakistan Army supported the Taliban who fought them in a civil war.

I agree here. All it has brought is arms, violence, drugs and soaring crime and terrorism rate. Very few Pakistanis despite the facts we are victims of it identify the days of the Afghan Soviet war and our pointless involvement as the facilitator of the problems we face today. The Russian threat to Pakistan which we advocate constantly did not even exist.

Couldn't have wrote it better myself. To hell with the jingoism and chest thumping of that time. This is what Pakistan has to deal with, from it's brothers....Heck, Afghanistan gets on better with Russia than Pakistan lol.
I also include Pakistan's liaisons with the Taliban when I write about the issue of regret.

Any sources for these figures? I am going by United Nation's estimates.
