Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir on Saturday called on all stakeholders to develop the “national consensus” required to confront challenges posed by the “economy and terrorism”, according to a press release from the military’s media wing.
The army chief’s comments come amid a spate of terrorist attacks in the country after the banned militant Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan ended its ceasefire with the government, ordering its militants to carry out attacks throughout the country.
Meanwhile, the country is also facing challenges on the economic front with its low foreign exchange reserves which are barely enough to cover a month’s imports. It is unclear when the country will receive more inflows from bilateral and multilateral institutions, giving rise to default fears.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) press release, the army chief attended the commissioning parade of the 118th Midshipmen and the 26th Short Service Commission as the chief guest at Karachi’s Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA). He was received by Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi upon arrival at the PNA.
Addressing the parade, the COAS said: “Pakistan is passing through one of her most critical junctures and this requires the development of national consensus by all stakeholders to sail through the confronted challenges of economy and terrorism.”
He also said that the maritime domain was “continuously shifting”, mainly due to technological advancements, and only navies that “align with professionalism and modern trends of warfare” would prevail and prove effective.
“COAS congratulated the commissioning term for the successful completion of training and becoming guardians of the maritime frontiers of Pakistan,” the ISPR said.
He also appreciated the PNA for imparting “quality education not only to Pakistani cadets but also to friendly countries, advising young officers as future leaders to lead by their conduct, character, professional acumen and foresight”.
Gen Munir also gave away awards to the prize winners, the ISPR said, adding that the Quaid-i-Azam Gold Medal was awarded to the navy’s Lt Kashif Abdul Quyyom for his “overall best performance” while Midshipman Naufil Malik was awarded the “coveted Sword of Honour for his overall best performance”.
The army chief also visited Malir Garrison where he laid floral wreaths at the martyrs’ monument.
According to the ISPR, the COAS also addressed the officers of Karachi Corps, Rangers, and other CAFs at Malir Garrison where he was received by Commander Karachi Corps Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar.
“He underscored the need to focus on the profession and demands of modern warfare and directed information operations,” the press release added.

Rising terror

Over the past few months, the law and order situation in the country has worsened, with terrorist groups like the outlawed TTP, the Islamic State group, and Gul Bahadur Group executing attacks with near impunity across the country.
Insurgents in Balochistan have also stepped up their violent activities and formalised a nexus with the TTP.
The incident at the KP police’s Counter-Terrorism Department interrogation centre in Bannu and the botched suicide bombing attempt in Islamabad not only set off alarm bells in the power corridors but also left several countries worried about the security of their nationals.
The US, UK, Australia and Saudi Arabia have issued advisories, asking their nationals to restrict movements in Pakistan and avoid non-essential trips.
Politics???

@PDF @waz @WebMaster Here is another example. How long will insults to our Army and it's Chief will be "accepted and allowed"? We need some important rules. This thread and many others are pertinent to our national security. This political bullsh*it and derailing of threads off topic should not be allowed. I also encourage these "overseas" Pakistanis with US and English flag to open a dozen threads up on Alert5 and other forums and write insulting posts towards the Pentagon / Army / UK Defense ministry, etc and see what happens to them. No nation allows insults to it's military, period. Political issues can be addressed in political threads.

Actually, there is pretty open criticism against military adventurism and leadership in the West --- do you just believe what generals/uncles say in WhatsApp chats? LOL.

Those defence forums are probably run by the likes of you. Twitter and social media is full of people ridiculing the military.

The best bit - 99% of people couldn't name the heads of the US or UK armed forces.

Exactly! Western militaries, unlike in Pakistan, are not wholly above / outside of the law. They aren't engineering hard/soft coups, puppeteering the entire political system, threatening judges, running huge business empires, etc. One recalls how Obama fired McChrystal, the superstar general in the US Army, when he complained about the VP on Afghan policy to a journalist.

In fact, even the militaries and intelligence services of non-democracies like China and theo-democracies like Iran are firmly under civilian control.

Rank and file should be angry about TTP and should focus there.

Okay thank you for the feedback.

PTI can deal with the situation in Afghanistan much better as Afghan Talibs listens to the religious, seminary people and above all they respect IK more than anyone in Pak, they listen to him.

PTI can deal with the economic situation so much better, with the last two year growth rate in PTI's tenure with GDP growth at 6.00 % in the 4th year and 5.6% in the 3rd year, all the economic indicators turned positive even during onslaught of Covid-19.

So clearly this is not about economy, not about terrorism which is the main agenda, the sinister agenda is to keep IK out of the equation particularly, and keep PTI out, and don't let a new power center emerging challenging the hegemon of the Khakis.

Even if the country goes bankrupt and goes into an economic meltdown.

Thread full of vitriol and garbage.
Garbage in, garbage out.

They have no voice and no value in real life. These are internet jihadists whose minds are filled with negativity and hatred. They can never get what they want in life. Their posts are repetition of same words, same sentences, its like using a paraphrasing tool to write the same content in a different way to avoid plagiarism with their next post. Their solutions are un-real, and they cannot keep their money where their mouth is, meaning they wont even do what they say themselves. They will complain, whine, abuse, curse, and exhibit hatred in the most exuberant manners every time they post in a thread, like "Zombies of Hatred". They are slaves of their own hatred. Their minds are one tracked- enter the thread, start cursing and abusing, its like their life is incomplete without the food of hatred or more like hatred grows in their hearts and mind everyday and they have to vomit it out everyday and the next day same pattern begins, after all they are humans and how much hatred can they contain in themselves for more than 24 hours. Their imagination is even wilder than their hatred, their minds are born out of conspiracy theories which are not even close to reality. Combine that hatred with imagination, and compile their posts, each and everyone of them has written a novel by now using same words and sentences over and over again. Some of the extravagant ideas that I read from their posts are beyond belief, like a novelist creates a character right ? So the novelist knows all about that character and what that character will do next as the novel gets written. They post like they know each and everything about the topic they are cursing and abusing on and about. A new online video of a shabby analysis by an journalist is their bread and butter. They think they are doing a favor or maybe Imran Khan has done a favor to them by giving them the tongue to ask questions, but is this research material questioning backed up by evidence ? No its definitely not. They regurgitate the videos of these scruffy journalists and then come on the forum asking questions with hatred as if they are experts on the subject and their minds are already made up. This mentality gives the same notion of extremism found in our society. These zombies of hatred are actually online extremists who who lost their minds long time back but held onto their tongues for eternity. They usually have no idea about narrative of the topic or any important factor which can be derived to discuss a situation at hand for a fruitful outcome. Jumping into threads with made up minds is never a good approach to discuss a topic and on top of that engaging every thread to throw their peals of animosity like subject matter experts (SMEs), where as SOP to tackle every situation is to dissect it one by one by evidence, discuss all alternate strategies and then generate guidelines how to approach the problem. This is step 1 in the long process of finding a solution to the problem.
Knee jerk salty rant lmao. Oh and you know why aam admi doesnot have a voice? Because theres a boot on their neck all the damn time. Get off your high horse.

Pakistani generals are worse than Turkiye generals. Young Turks fought for the nation so they had some claim over Turkiye, Pakistani generals and army were busy fighting in www2 as British India army, they still lay claim to the country while playing zero part in independence.
They wont leech off without lots of blood.

Finally someone said the samething i think on daily basis. This army's general even refused to fight against India when ordered by Mohammed Ali Jinnah.

Let me right down the failures
- Lost big chunk of kashmir
- Lost complete east wing
- Surrendered big time
- Lost Siachen
- Lost in Kargil
- dragged itself in WOT

and many many more. And latest feather in the hat VoNC and NRO2

Now after all these big-ticket failures how can he even think of national consensus .

If PTI can get the majority and no more interference from Establishment, IK can resolve major issues with in 3 years.
Unfortunately, we all know that establishment want to destroy Pakistan.

I wish I could say something, but then I'll get army brats acting like they have counters to hit back.

Anyways, still a few hours until Fajr namaz time for me going to take a nap.
They like riding horses. Bachpan se riding seekhi hai unhon ne 🚀🚀🚀
