What's new

Argentina : First export customer for JF-17?

If Argentina buy Fc-1 that will be great achievement for them , Jf 17 is a light weight , but effective fighter , with a good weapon package... from BVR to Anti ship Missiles ...Cheaper to operate , they have buy 20 , with a option of 30 more ... 50 jf's equipped with proper BVR and AS missiles will definitely ring some bells in UK

Call For End To Foreign Aid To Argentina As It Buys Fighter Jets From China - Breitbart

like i said earlier that Chinese FC-1 was made for Argentina!!

they've already agreed to provide engines even though they know its a competitor for Russian market.

It really depends on what they are looking for.

Argentinians tried to get the Brazilian made Gripens but UK blocked it.

Most likely, they'd go for Russian made latest flankers. Nothing else can match the EFTs, in the worse case scenario.

Hmm

The administrator/moderator of aviacionargentina which is one of tge most popular aviation websites in South America is telling that Argentina is interested in J-10 and Argentine pilots will soon visit China to evaluate J-10.
See first post on page.

I am also a member there - he told me that all were speculations -- Xiaolong (Fierce Dragon) however L-15 is out of the question as they have IA68 "Pampa" (version II y III y uno proyecto denominado "GT"

wait a minute maybe its this thread

but all are speculations atm and the members would like to have j10 if they had a choice between j10 and jf17. They have a strong political lobby for m2k

Mr even if the plane has half qualities of its adversary but the pilot is better skilled and trained than that plane can take out many and JF-17 say way more than half

Son,

It happens in stupid discussions carried out in Pakistanis drawing rooms. There is no such thing as a lesser trained and lesser skilled pilot in a 4th gen plane any more---all pilots by default will be top tier pilots----.

Half quality planes will not survive anymore----those days are gone----you have to be at within 10% of the capabilities of your opponents electronics and weapons---.

It is not a one on one air battle any more----it is a battle between assets and their utilization.

The real issue is Argentina can't afford 150~180 flight hours/years (NATO standard) for its pilots.

That is ridiculous. Every pilot in the world will disagree with you.
I clearly remember Pierre Sprey saying that a good pilot in a bad airplane is always better than a rookie in any plane. He is no pilot, but i am just giving you an example. Aircraft is just a tool. Never forget that.

Please read my post again---you will have a top tier pilot in a 4th gen plane---if this is your first 4th gen----. Like in Pakistan---all top tier pilots went to the JF17's---.

The things is that you are not fighting one on one---you are fighting against a system. A superior aircraft will have superior electronics and superior weapons as well---. The superior electronics will also be smarter electronics that will do most of the job for the pilot.

In order for the pilot to be in that seat---it is by default that the pilot is able and capable.

In the current 4th gen and above aircraft---your electronics package and your offencive weapons need to be at par or within 90% of the superior aircraft for the PILOT factor to count.

You don't see bubble canopies any more in newer aircraft---why---because the pilot does not need to look around to be aware---his electronic sensors are doing the job for him---.

If you have better support and sensors---you have missiles that can fly farther and have a higher kill ratio at longer distances---you have a higher chance of success.

Now---in a merge---a better pilot still needs a good machine to overcome a superior adversary---.

Yu cannot go into the battle with that kind of mindset----yu have to be ready and you have to prepare----.

Haven't you seen what happened in the cricket match the other day---. All inferior teams got thrashed---all superior teams won.

You don't go to battle with a mindset that miracle will happen for your win.

Must agree with @MastanKhan, that pilots manning the JF-17 Squadrons are no young dashing jocks as was the case with F-16, but they seem more seasoned instructor class men.

it will be like this at least until they start producing Block 3. You need a seasoned and highly experienced pilot to perform testing and to criticize the aircraft. Till block 3 becomes a reality, the aircraft will remain in "testing" phase
that's how i see it at least
