Seriously? Your stupid article dares to assume that Iranians - Shia Muslims - would for one nanosecond prefer your new age Yoga Guru nonsense over haj/ziyarat of Imam Ali (AS), the Prophet (SAA), and the Ahlulbayt (AS)????

Why not? First of all you assume that every Iranian is (practicing) muslim. This is wrong. Iranians are quite spiritual and yoga is relatively popular in Iran.

My Iranian friend knows a few big Indian actors, Aamir, Shahrukh, Amitabh etc and Sholay is one of his favorite movies :D

Unlike Pakistan most Islamic nations are not that delusional to think that Yoga is something which is haram or Hindus pray to stones. For a better understanding of what Hinduism is one should watch these videos:
Pakistanis have been brainwashed over the years into believing that anything related to Hinduism is Anti-Islam but what most of them do not know that unlike them in India we have got 7 Siddha Purushas within the Hindu fold itself and one of them strangely is a Muslim. What Hinduism tries to convey is that a Brahman is one who have relized the ultimate truth and thereby attained divinity in a way it doesn't matter which marga or path he follows. For example if he is doing Namaz 5 times a day and thereby realizes the true nature of God (Allah or as in Hinduism we would call Param Bramha) there would be no Brahmin greater then him. . . . Yes despite being a Muslim he would be regarded as a Brahmin(So the term should be analyzed linguistically rather than attaching it to a particular faith).Yoga is just another path to attain salvation and hence anything that has the power to bring our Muslim brothers closer to God should not be considered Haram cause that would be the real sin!!And I would also like to mention here that a great saint of India Sri Sri Ramkrishna Paramhans once said that Hazrat Isa(Christ)PBUH and Prophet Mohammad(PBUH) were true Brahmins. . .

Thats totally your choice. However, just because Yoga originated in Hinduism or linked to Hinduism does not mean it is anti-Islam. Yoga is nothing but simple exercises to keep your body healthy. You may know that many exercises taught in gym are in Yoga as well. So it doesnot whether you call it yoga or some thing else. The basic purpose is same i.e. to keep the body in healthy state.

I can say for sure that despite the huge propaganda against Iran, Indians have a lot of fondness for Iran. We recognize the ancient cultural ties and lots of things in our culture are of iranian origin.

I also do not think what a common irani have against india. However how much yoga or indian movies are popular in iran only iranians can tell.

Indian movies are popular enough, especially among females society. And also,as mentioned here before,Yoga is also popular among middle and higher class females.
Iranians generally do not have anything against Indians, and there is no reason for any hostility or dislike.

Yoga is not anti-islam. But some of the things in yoga are against to fundamental islamic principle. "OM","Soora Namaskara" etc.
"There is no god but God and Muahammed(s) is prophet" is Islam. Any thing violates this is forbidden in islam. Islam is not like any other religion where you can do anything still you are a Hindu or Christian. We consider even a minute details which can violate our faith.

Yoga in Iran (and infact in China) might be famous. But it would be customized.
For example,
When doing soorya namaskar, they would not be thinking that they are worshiping sun rather they would just concentrate on physical exercise.

You must read the comments written by Indians in Indian news papers whenever Iran in news.
According to me Iranians are great people who are under sanction for more than 30 years.

I was pretty surprised when I saw a video of Iranians studying ninjitsu.

I had no Idea that was even allowed.

Many hues of a rainbow

Iran is a cultural mosaic drawn from many sources.

No en masse defiance: The dress code is the site of a running battle between women and the clerical authorities. Photo: AP

"THIS must be the only country in the world where water costs more than petrol," said the Teheran taxi-driver wryly as I got out of his car to buy some bottled water from a pavement shop. Petrol in Iran costs the equivalent of Rs 4 a litre, while mineral water costs up to three times more.

"Iran must also be the only country where the rulers imagine they're respected, but people don't like them," exclaimed the middle-aged woman passenger whom the driver had invited into the cab, as she proceeded to loosen her headscarf to expose a good chunk of brightly painted hair. Both wanted to know if things are any different in India.

It only takes a couple of days in Iran to realise that there is something seriously wrong with the stereotype disseminated by the global media which portrays Iran as a closed, unfree, pre-modern, anti-Western, pathologically authoritarian society — one that's monolithic, obsessed with Islam, in which men willingly subjugate themselves to the Ayatollahs, and women cower and skulk, with their hair and ears completely covered, arms and ankles invisible, and curves hidden by loose-fitting garments.

Talking freely

As I discovered during a recent visit, this stereotype is a parody. There is nothing that the Iranians love more, barring picnicking, than talking — and talking freely, with abandon, even to strangers. This is not only because they are curious about India. (Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan are household names).

Actually i just came back from Morocco. Over there, I saw people there too in love with Shahrukh Khan and Amitabh Bachchan. I met few people who were actually learning Hindi!

Believe me,you are misinformed about a lot of other things happening in Iran.I don't blame you, because western media usually do not show anything positive from Iran.If only you could visit Iran yourself and see what is actually going on.
