Are Indian Nukes Safe?

I feel very worried for India nukes that wasn't safe in a good position.

Do you know where they are

Dear Gene, instead of reading this article. I think if you read your own newspapers and see that recently nuclear material is found in a bazar in Delhi(I think). If this is the standard of Indian Nuclear Safety then I must say that YOU MUST ABANDONE IT.

Further why USA gave nuclear deal to India is not becuase India has clean record. See your record as mentioned in the article. Instead of calling it BS (our other indian friends) why not you deny that the incident mentioned in the article are simply not happened.

i dont think cobalt-60 would be made as a nuke. its just a medical waste handled with carelessness. i think its not wise to compare this with the nuke materials which are safe guarded by DAE. we fear of Pakistan nuke being unsafe because your leaders admitted that they were incapable of tackling terrorist inside Pakistan..

the big catch is that you will be having American officials monitor your nuclear facilities on an interval basis. Have fun with that.

correction: not US officials but IAEA officials.
Secondly have u read the text of the 123 agreement..
It clearly states that India can make a separation b/n it s civilian and military facilities and only the civilian facilities for wich Fuel is coming from abroad will be under inspections.
If need be we know very well how to divert from civilian to military w/o anyone knowing.

Do you even know what you're talking about? Go read the news again! Its radioactive material that was found in scrap in Delhi and not some nuclear fissile material. Its not like they found Nu-235 or some plutonium isotopes that could be used for making bombs. It was a radioactive variant of Co-60. Not all radioactive material is nuclear material. Go back and read your 9th grade chemistry book again.

Regarding the rest of your rant about India's proliferation record, 3 words - Abdul Qadeer Khan. Go figure!

The bomb would be a fusion nuclear weapon salted with cobalt-60, thereby spreading the gamma-ray emitter as it exploded. The cobalt bomb would essentially have the potential to wipe out all life on earth by way of its long radioactive half-life

4. the availability and prevalence of Cobalt-60 around the world makes it a likely ingredient in a dirty bomb. This has lead to increased fear of this weapon in modern times rather than in the Cold War era, since the terrorist organizations(Like the one bal thakre has) weren’t as developed as they are now

Pakistan nuke equipments never found in the bazar as is the case with indian nukes.

Our scientists are never found dead mysteriously as happens in India.

Pakistani nuclear facilities never reported mixing of heavy water into drinking water as happened in India.

Pakistani nuclear tests did not spread nuclear radiation in Balochistan as Indian nuclear tests done so in Pokharan.

No incident in Pakistani nuclear facilities against many incidents in Indian nuclear facilities.

Still indians think they deserve to hold the nuclear stick. OK, as you wish. But, keeping India's past record in mind, I can easily predict that this stick will destroy to India itself one day

wake up and look at the title of the thread. This topic is on safety of indian nukes and facilities....not Pakistan's


yes a lot of people make noise about Pakistan's nukes; but those people are of little importance in the end. Those who are well-versed and read the news, will know that Pakistan's nuclear safety record is un-blemished. We are the only Islamic country to have nukes, so of course some people will have an ulterior motive to smear our image and project us as some kind of nuclear arms market where terrorists can magically acquire nuclear weapons and magically learn how to find the components, key codes, fire-codes, and know-how on how assembling the warhead.

like i said --- indians have a problem differentiating between drama/dreams & news/reality.

it is india where all these accidents and thefts at nuclear facility are taking place...

and that is the purpose of this thread -- to discuss these failures
