Are France and Sweden Developing 5th Generation Fighter Jets?

Just a thread for general discussion purposes.

France and Sweden both produce modern day 4.5+gen fighter jets. And have made no plans to procure any F-35's or import any aircraft. Industrially and Technologically, How hard would it be for these countries to produce stealth technology for next generation fighters.
Are there any plans for either of them to go ahead with any next-generation fighter projects?

Alone I'd imagine it would be exceedingly difficult. They would need some guaranteed buys aside from their own (unless they have a 1000+ 5th gen airforce planned), or else their costs will skyrocket The best option would be a collaborative effort, but they might not have enough partners to make it viable.

Either way, it will be a huge undertaking, but given how France is, they might do it anyway, whatever the inefficiency and cost.

As for Sweden, with a total yearly gdp of less than 1 trillion, I struggle to see how they could fund a 5th gen program on their own for any reasonable time frame that wouldn't leave it obsolete by the time it became operational.

I think France could, possibly some time after 2025.

No way, in any case would that be possible.

It is obviously possible. MKI production gave way to FGFA JV. Rafale production will naturally give way to a next gen replacement program.

@Picdelamirand-oil proposed France can join AMCA development. But we can think higher, with a real long term development program for a post 2035 induction.

I guess they joined the Eurofighter consortium previously but eventually backed off due to differences in finances and work share. If only France and Sweden would agree on proper finances and work share and rather partner with an Asian country for finances instead of an European country, I'm damn sure they would develop a world class 5th gen fighter which may even be better than the F35

i thought it was gonna be based of the existing gripen to save money instead of a clean sheet design.
@Technogaianist is that right ?
also probably why the turks dropped saab in favour of bae systems as they wanted to push for a single engined fighter instead of the turkish requirement for twin engined. as the f35 is being purchased.

They plan to move from Rafale straight to unmanned combat drones.
