Anyone here use a digital audio player?

Those that don’t know, basically a much more advanced version of an iPod touch (for example) For much higher audio resolution files.

I’m not sure how many Audiophiles (if any) exist on this forum and was just curious.

My phone is a DAP isn't it?

Technically yes I suppose? Also depends if it has the ability to play high resolution audio. FLAC and Wave files for example.

Unlike a phone though, DAPs Main mission is to play audio. Specially Hi-Rez audio in most cases.

I keep trying to post a link From Amazon, but it keeps coming up as blank when I save the changes.

Anyhow.. Hiby R6 Pro

Interesting that you used a Crutchfield link. I’ve bought several things from there.
I always use em.

Although pricewise they’re not quite as good as Amazon or some other e-tailers, Customer service is always top notch. 60 day return period is really good too.

My most recent acquisition from them was a preamp.

There’s a lot more of them too. I bought mine from Amazon.
Yup...
Now I know what new gadget to buy for my Bentley

I stream high quality FLAC or even WAV files from my own built Linux server at home. For steaming, I use open source VLC player with Samba server in a Samsung tablet hooked up to my home audio system. While working on my PC , I use Linux based Amarok player which is connected to MySQL server. All my TV, PC, Phones and Tablets are hooked up to my home audio system either by cable, Bluetooth or Chromecast. The same apply to all my videos.

Very nice sir, very nice!

My humble digital set up just consists of my digital audio player (Hiby R6 Pro) and my Yamaha preamp (WXC-50) Networked directly into my receiver.

Also have my Turntable, but that’s not digital obviously.

If you have an old PC , you can use that to store all your multi media file in a single central location at home. Then you can access' those files from either your mobile devices and PC. Being an audiophile , I use a mixer, crossover and an amp. Then I send hi , mid and low frequency sounds to three different pairs of speakers which also include a pair of subwoofers. Try it.

Any flagship android phone from 2017 onward is a DAP with high res audio capability as they incorporate Qualcomm's APTX & APTX HD codecs/chips. You would however need bluetooth headphones with APTX or APTX HD chips in them to actually feel the difference. For wired headphones I use Sennheiser and FiiO highres capable headsets. I also own Tronsmart Spunky Beats (APTX) and MPOW Flame-S (APTX HD) bluetooth headsets. The wired headphones provide a better sound experience IMO. A dedicated Highres Audio player is an expensive proposition starting from around $440 and the price only goes up.
