Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Javad Zarif has called for unity in Muslim world and said no country, including India, can undermine the importance of Pakistan for Iran.
He was addressing a special meeting of National Assembly Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in Islamabad on Thursday.
The Iranian Foreign Minister said anything that threatens the security of Pakistan is threat to Iran as well.
Replying to a question he said Iran has completed its part of the gas pipeline and is waiting for Pakistan to complete its part.
In his welcome remarks, Chairman of the Committee Awais Leghari stressed the need to expand economic cooperation between two countries especially in energy sector.
Talking to the Iranian Foreign Minister, National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq said a strong desire for strengthening parliamentary ties exists both in Pakistan and Iran.
The Speaker proposed for collaboration between Pakistani and Iranian Institutes of Parliamentary Services that can serve as think tanks for intensification of Pak-Iran relations.
The Speaker also accepted the invitation by Speaker of Iranian Parliament to visit Iran which would take place on mutually agreed dates.
