Sad. RIP. ... Never a happy thing to see Muslims die even when we are killing each other with such abundance... However the IRGA has been suffering especially with officers which is not a good thing. These casualties need to be decreased.. I can understand that fighting soo many groups using ground forces will result in casualties but it doesn't bode well for Iran. Perhaps Iran should also focus more on aerial assault and give greater cover and support to the Syrian army. This may decrease casualties and bombing supply routes can be effective...

1- First of all, they are fearless, front line military advisers... Iranian advisers have one big difference to those of Americans or Russians... Iranian officers go check everything by themselves in order to have a better understanding of the battle and it is hard to trust anyone these days in Syria, specially in an Army with a Sunni majority...

2- There are more than 60 fronts in Syria alone that Iranians sent advisers in... There are something between 2000 to 5000 military advisers of Iranian national in both Syria and Iraq. This big number when taken into account the fact that no matter how much good you are on the ground you can still caught up in a trap or long range anti-tank missile... The battle scene in Syria and Iraq is very exceptional... There are cities or villages where everybody knows many of them are pro-ISIL and PRO-Terrorists but Iran is civilized enough not to level up a whole village just because there some terrorists among local people... (This was Saddam's way of settling up risings!)

3- Comparing to thousands of Iranian military advisers, having couple of them martyred every month is way acceptable...

4- The war on Terror in Syria and Iraq is not a whole Vs Whole armies... Iran only sent advisers... mobilized few hundreds of Afghan, Syrian and Iraqi fighters... It is nothing yet...If it is seen necessary to wage a more intense offensive on terrorists, Iran still have a lot more to offer to savage terrorists...

5- Iran says a very logical thing... Iran says, both Syria and Iraq have enough man power... They only need guidance and support... So, as long as this strategy works, there is no need to grab Iranian soldiers or air force to the battle...

6- The Syrian war is a mess... every country claims they want to fight terrorists but when it comes to definition, they put Al qaeda beheaders and other groups in a Moderate category... what a moderate people!! They behead... They do all the illegal acts of crime on innocent people or prisoners... They openly ask to kill Shia and Christians and yet they are called MODERATE!! This is a joke... Now, after Iran, Russia, Syria and Iraq coordinated on attacks, there are new hopes for a once and for all solution to this mess... It is not easy for any country including Iran or USA to grab a whole army on the ground of Syria to finish them up... World has rules... Rules are affected by international geopolitics...

Actually I am quite surprised Iran is not up-scaling further! Time is running out and 50 to 100 IRGC forces perish for this goal is nothing compared to what is at stake! We should be ready to sustain thousands of casualties if diplomacy is stalled! US DoD understood the significance and ordering more participation to his puppets but feeble minds don't!

Actually fighting insurgents in Syria is a type of war Iran is good at but not enough has been put in! Diplomats should make up their mind and go all in if necessary with all preconditions set.

So what, in one Iran-Iraq battle we lose 7000 to 8000 soldiers because bastards had embargoed us and we didn't have the necessary equipment! Do you think when we make up our mind that sacrifice is needed we would hesitate to die for the goal! I have served Iran DoD for 26 months (8 months extra by my own will and their request) and know all my equipment and as secular I am, I am willing to die to put the ISIS and FSA scumbags in place if necessary! I wouldn't mind a brave IRGC commander leading me if he accepts what I am. Body counts don't frighten my generations and I believe even the new generation when in situation would do their best. That is in our genes.

I hope they give permission to cross Iraq borders (with Iraqi permission) and mass 300K force against ISIS there! If that happens I will join Basij fighting these bastards! Having Izadis, Kurdish people, Syrians, Iraqis free of terror and smile coming back to these suffered people and fighting ISIS and FSA Saudi sponsored so called rebels is something worth dying for.

It confuses me when I hear the few martyrs everyday is making news! What you expect it is war! I expect 100 everyday and it is not reaching that number! That means we don't have enough on the ground and not doing enough.

Regarding Advice: NDF (Syrian National Defense Forces) are built and organized by Iranians based on Quds Force.. Syrians know it better. If it was not significant the Wahhabi maniacs would not be crying so loud!

Regarding equipment: Ground forces equipment consists of (Communication, Surveillance, Protection and offensive weapon) in all 4 areas Iran is producing and the equipment for the special forces are adequate. From C4 to infrared cameras and personal radars etc. ....

Regarding the PAK army: With all due respect to the Pakistani National forces but have you forgotten Wazirestan War? With over 120K personnel and help of Americans you still suffered 7000 casualties and 9000 wounded against Taliban and its affiliates? Back off the rhetoric! Your statistics in all wars your Army have participated is not that shiny but there is no blame. War is not predictable even for US Army!

the 7000 KIA has been over a 10 year period, theres never been an incident in our own military history were thousands of troops were wiped off the face of the earth in a single encounter against a 2nd rate army like the iraqi army back in the 80s.And atleast were fighting the taliban and beating them when those same individual killed 11 of your diplomats in 1998 your country did nothing, I can further breakdown you're statement even more, but this thread is about the dead IRGC officers so i'll pay my respect and stop going off topic.
