IBNLive : No dealings on aircrafts with Russia: Indian Navy

After the Kput of Arjun, LCA and Nag now joins the KLUB....

the Indian Navy is now going public with another sore issue-- the Klub cruise missile.

Inducted to be the main strike weapon of India's submarine arm between 2001 and 2006, this anti-ship cruise missile has never hit a target.

Seven of India's 10-kilo class submarines and the three Talwar class stealth frigates have been fitted with this weapon.

"There are problems that we have overcome but we are having dialogues,” says FOC-in-C, Eastern Naval Command, Vice-Admiral PS Suthan

The problems have overcome but still having dailogue....hmmmm....with whom the gods of Klub?

India is reported to have acquired over 200 Klubs at a cost of several thousand crores. And the missiles have never reached anywhere close to the stated range of 300 km.

The failure of the Klub cruise missiles has raised fresh doubts about the reliability of Russia as an arms supplier.

The naval top brass now concedes that it may have to reconsider the entire upgrade programme for the Kilo class submarines “We will look into other missiles,” says Vice-Admiral Puthan.

Still no regret for this crisis, as Brahmos project is streamlined and we are confident to configured this brahmos on Kilo much successfully. Still news doesn't have much anything that can shake the IN.

Wonder why Russia is not inducting Brahmos in their Navy, even after umpteen pleading by India?

Beats me!!

Russians still stick with Yakhont..

SS-N-26 Yakhont/Oniks P-800 | Russian Arms, Military Technology, Analysis of Russia's Military Forces

Ironical that Brahmos is so identical to Yakhnot that we can say that it is a lisenced production...

. . . .
Yes, but Yakhont is Brahmos.

Have you wondered, the Time and Effort of DRDO to MKIsed the Yakhont to Brahmos with "Indeginous"Avionics and guidence spice?:smitten:

Still the Russians don't accept Brahmos....... hell even "Cruise missile poor" countires don't buy.:sniper:

. .
Why say joint India - Russian Developement say we bought Yakhont from Russia and now produce it Under lisence, Klub class 3M54E and Yakhont 3M55 are not so much different either Klub 3M54E has the same Supersonic terminal speed as Yakhont...

.
So if India is not getting Klubs for their Kilos then i think they need not to Worry since Yakhont will serve the Purpose..
