The dynamics of abhorrence and respect is not as simple as you expect it to be.

Abhorrence turns to respect only if it is a defense mechanism to compensate for superiority of your competitor. If abhorrence is the basic emotion rather than a defense mechanism, it does not translate into respect.

Example would be abhorrence to rape. That abhorrence is basal rather than a defense mechanism so it will never turn to respect and rapist would never be respected.

While another contrasting example would be that of Abhorrence to Japan in last few decades of 20th century. It was a defense mechanism for the technical superiority that japan has obtained in supply chain management field so it did turned to respect.


Blowing yourself while shouting allah-u-akbar or breeding like rats entice the emotion of basic abhorrence not the one having roots in defense mechanism.

On topic, More and more Muslim countries have realized that socialism and fascism are not the way forward. One by one these governments are falling and the true will of the people are being expressed.
The vast majority of Muslim countries want a democratic nation with Islamic ideals, and finally they are getting that slowly.
The next step is quite logical, build up their economy on a free market bases with special trade agreements with other Muslim countries. After that, expand to rest of the world.
This will take a while, but it is doable with democracy and free market economies.
