An Interview of Pakistani Scientist in NASA

It's all about the 'Talent Hunt'. They seek brains from all over the world and get them, it's easy. A simplest reason can be as following:

An american engg/doc scientist may seek $ 10000 for his job, but an asian professional would be ready to do the same job for like may be $ 5000. It's natural and we all know how much we pay our people here in Asia.

Though india has taken a quantum leap in this regards by giving huge , i mean really huge pay packages to their employees, it's an effective way to stop Brian Drain.

Funds and money for space research in Pakistan may be? Thats a good guess.

I think he misquoted Pakistanis for Indians.

The link you are providing is a blog (kahi suni baat) quotes a Times of India report wrt what a minister said in Upper house. I remember Times of India also reported the next day that the said minister had no reliable source when challenged.

Looks like as usual the real picture is middle of the two extreams.

Though all this does not mean that Indians cannot and will not challenge the world in the knowledge race in future.

Was not able to find any link related to no of Pakistanis in NASA. Please help me with that.

Well apparently there is at least one. Hope Pakistanis keep working at something productive like this and make way for such scientists in there own country instead of sending them off to other countries and retaining what they retain these days.

Really with such a huge pool of talent why is Pakistan so behind in Space Technology with Nasa hiring their 35% from Pakistan.
:blah::blah:

Because Pakistan spends on defense to protect herself from India who spends vigorously as well. Pakistan has a small economy so spending more on defense costs her industry and development. India being a big economy has no problem spending on defense.

India started with more resources as compared to Pakistan. India got better leadership than Pakistan did. India has been safe from exploitation and the targeting of foreign intelligence. Pakistan has always been the victim and because of hypocrite rulers have been slow in progress.

India has been ruled by muslims for 1200 years despite of the fact that muslims have always been a minority. The Hindus fear it and don't want Muslims to rise again to rule them. For this they have maintained a good political system which has benefited India.

America and Europe wants India to be equal to China in order to fight the cold war. That is why they are assisting India. India got leaders like Indira Gandhi, we got leaders like Mr.10% which is Zardari.

Who says that India didn't exist before 1947. He would be a fool to say such an absurd thing. And yes why not history when the truth is being told , now you are feeling spices in your eyes.

Pakistan is not being ruled by Muslims. She is being ruled by Hypocrites. And Pakistan doesn't have an Islamic Law. It is a wild west law. That is why we are not happy.

Scientists and actors as well as religous scholars don't rule a country. Government or leadership rules the country. It is a fact that minorities have ruled India. Brehman were the minorities who were actually Arians and attacked India. India or Hindustan has been the land of Shudders. They were very peaceful and didn't have a concept of fighting. Aryans came and made them their slaves. Muslims came and attacked India and ruled despite of the fact that they were minorities.

And what is the condition of common muslim indian, all know it well. Some bunch of actors who are more hindu than Muslims or puppet one or two politicians in the parliament who speak the same language as hindu extremists speak and some bunch of scholars and scientists don't make a damn difference.

It is the common folk, the common janta who is the victim of tyranny. Hindus have shed cruelty on Muslims and that is why Pakistan came into being. Your own leaders like Jaswant Singh today are accepting the truth.

Enjoy Indian Media.

Folks, the figures about Indians in USA is pure fiction caught on from chainmails. The numbers are entirely made up and hold no water.

India rising in US: Govt falls victim to net hoax - US - World - NEWS - The Times of India

WASHINGTON: It's an Internet myth that has taken on a life of its own. No matter how often you slay this phony legend, it keeps popping up again
like some hydra-headed beast.

But on Monday, the Indian government itself consecrated the oft-circulated fiction as fact in Parliament, possibly laying itself open to a breach of privilege. By relaying to Rajya Sabha members (as reported in The Times of India) a host of unsubstantiated and inflated figures about Indian professionals in US, the government also made a laughing stock of itself.

The figures provided by the Minister of State for Human Resource Development Purandeshwari included claims that 38 per cent of doctors in US are Indians, as are 36 per cent of NASA scientists and 34 per cent of Microsoft employees.

There is no survey that establishes these numbers, and absent a government clarification, it appears that the figures come from a shop-worn Internet chain mail that has been in circulation for many years. Spam has finally found its way into the Indian parliament dressed up as fact.

Attempts by this correspondent over the years to authenticate the figures have shown that it is exaggerated, and even false. Both Microsoft and NASA say they don't keep an ethnic headcount. While they acknowledge that a large number of their employees are of Indian origin, it is hardly in the 30-35 per cent range.

In a 2003 interview with this correspondent, Microsoft chief Bill Gates guessed that the number of Indians in the engineering sections of the company was perhaps in the region of 20 per cent, but he thought the overall figure was not true. NASA workers say the number of Indians in the organization is in the region of 4-5 per cent, but the 36 per cent figure is pure fiction.

The number of physicians of Indian-origin in the US is a little easier to estimate. The Association of American Physicians of Indian Origin (AAPI) has 42,000 members, in addition to around 15,000 medical students and residents. There were an estimated 850,000 doctors in the US in 2004. So, conflating the figures, no more than ten per cent of the physicians in US maybe of Indian-origin – and that includes Indian-Americans – assuming not everyone is registered with AAPI.

These numbers in themselves are remarkable considering Indians constitute less than one per cent of the US population. But in its enthusiasm to spin the image of the successful global Indian to its advantage, the government appears to have milked a long-discredited spam - an effort seen by some readers as the work of a lazy bureaucrat and an inept minister.

The story has attracted withering scrutiny and criticism on the Times of India's website, with most readers across the world trashing it. "The minister should be hauled up by the house for breach of privilege of parliament (by presenting false information based on hearsay). We Indians are undoubtedly one of the most successful ethnic groups in USA, be it in Medicine, Engineering, Entrepreneurship. BUT, that does not translate to those ridiculous numbers that have been presented....this is a circulating e-mail hoax," wrote in Soumya from USA, who said he worked at the NASA facility in Ames, California, and the number was nowhere near what was mentioned in the figures given to Parliament.

"This minister (D.Purandeshwari, Minister of State for HRD)... should be held accountable for misleading the members of parliament and the citizens of India. This just shows how illiterate and mentally defunct the current Indian govt. is," wrote Anand from Melbourne.

Purandeshwari is not the first minister to use the dubious figures in a system where politicians depend heavily on their bureaucrats to furnish facts, figures, and speeches. Former home minister L.K.Advani used the same figures in a speech some years back on a visit to Washington DC.

It mentions NASA in there too.

So folks, next time an indian pulls up these fake figures, don't forget to show this article to them.

don't dance so much buddy. It signals nothing but how hard it is for you guys to see our success. In a single word its called Jealousy

It was never meant to have it back. It was a two years mission, it almost completed one year and said chalta hai (common indian attitude) and took rest. Btw it completed most of its objectives by then. Now its resting in peace in space.

Firstly about computer viruses

The Creeper virus was first detected on ARPANET, the forerunner of the Internet in the early 1970s.[3] Creeper was an experimental self-replicating program written by Bob Thomas at BBN in 1971.[4] Creeper used the ARPANET to infect DEC PDP-10 computers running the TENEX operating system. Creeper gained access via the ARPANET and copied itself to the remote system where the message, "I'm the creeper, catch me if you can!" was displayed. The Reaper program was created to delete Creeper.[5]

Wiki answers in not a creditible resouce so cant comment on the headcount.

Dont know about 2 Microsoft engineers but yes i do know that there are microsoft off shore development centers in India along with full dedicated off shore development centers in Infosys, Wipro and TCS. And stands no 1 in outsourcing where as pakistan as no 20 in the same industry..

It sounds bit funny when you are happy about 2 engg senior to Indian engg... if it is true... sources please. Pakistan IT industry can not at all be compared with Indian IT industry....
Regarding calculating the weight of earth if I am not wrong it is calculated on the basis of Newton laws. Anyone in 12th grade can calculate that with newton laws.

Rest all experiments are not big deal because there are 100s of them by both Pakistan and India.

Regarding Space read chandrayaan 1
