He shouldn't have gone there, for a variety of reasons too.
Relations have been pretty frosty, if not outright hostile lately at the state level for a while now.
Why, as a muslim, would he want to get his passport visa stamped by Pakistan ? It'll make his life very difficult if he wants to visit the west, eastern Europe in particular is brutal, and Trump has massively ramped up the vetting for people looking to visit/migrate to the US.
Pakistan, Saudi etc are not good stamps to have on your passport these days.
I was in Amritsar some time ago and talking to some taxi drivers about visiting nankana sahib/Lahore and about Pakistani tourists who visit here (they like going to Dharamshala/McLeodgang apparently). Punjabi people here, both working class and rich are probably the most aspirational of the Indian lot when it comes to wanting to settle/work or study abroad (west) and a Pakistan visit will all but ensure that you never get to step foot there. This is truer for the non wealthy, still.. Sikhs and Punjabis avoid travel to Pakistan mostly for this reason, even those who got PR/green card etc for the west/US avoid going there.
Pakistan is also unfortunately not very stable when it comes to the security situation, why go there ?
A lot of the zealots there also hate Indian muslims more than the Hindus.
Unless, like many Indian muslims, he had familial ties and relatives there, this guy shot himself in the foot the moment he decided to travel to Pak.
