An India – China Military Conflict – Part I

None of us want a India China conflict not now ,but ever ... The boundary disputes are marginal , India will continue to have Arunachal as integral part of India and China can continue to have Aksai chin as their integral part ... We will not let Tibetans do any aggression from our soil and you ensure you do not support Maoists or any NE separatist groups .

There is more to lose for both sides in a war than to gain , Peace is the only option ..Else far away Uncle Sam n others will be jumping with joy seeing us engage in a war !

Too romantic post. it's true that nobody wants war but small scale war is in pipeline. And power respects power

Plenty of nations and interest groups would be all-too-happy to see China and India in a large scale war.

At the end of the day, it is China and India who will decide that. But there are a LOT of hotheads on both sides.

Even one big accident (or the highly unlikely possibility of a false-flag attack) could set it off.

The Hu Jintao regime was fairly friendly towards India and coinciding with Congress in India which is fairly defensive and cautious too ... Hope New Chinese leader would be level headed and continue concentrating on Economic growth rather than being too aggressive and hawkish in approach !

One man alone doesn't make much of a difference, the real decision makers are the ones in the Politburo Standing Committee. And Hu Jintao is only one of them.

The upcoming Xi-Li Administration seems to be fairly status quo I would say. Though not as pacifist as the current Hu-Wen Administration and their "Peaceful rise concept".

Though many would not like believe so but the peaceful rise concept worked wonders for China and will continue to do ... Thats more the reason why i wish its kept that way , few Nationalistic statements here and there is understandable to please the domestic audience but being hawkish to grab land by force or aggression wont work in today's world for both sides.

If Hu-Wen administration is termed under pacifist category and yet helps China achieve what ever it has in the recent past , i would like to keep it that way .... Rather than being hawkish and lose friends and business !

I have no problem with the peaceful development concept. Hu Jintao and Wen Jiaobao are actually quite popular, compared to other leaders like the previous President Jiang Zemin or the next one Xi Jinping.

Chinese leaders are one thing above all else, and that is pragmatic. That's how they get the job in the first place.

China isn't going to launch any wars unless attacked first. Launching an unprovoked war would be stupid, considering that we are still decades away from being able to match the USA in economy/diplomacy, and even further away in terms of power projection.

So if nobody is attacking us, they don't have anything to worry about. The Chinese leadership is not stupid or illogical to start an offensive war for no reason. Especially now when our economy is doing so well.

Think about it logically, who is doing the best out of the current global "status quo"?

The answer is China. Our relative power is increasing relative to every other country on the planet (given that we are the fastest growing major economy in the world).

As much as we dislike the American hegemony and domination of all the regions of the world, they are in fact doing us a favour right now. They are spending hundreds of billions of dollars every single year to be the "World Policeman" and using their economic/military/diplomatic power to uphold the global status quo that is benefiting us so much.

Why would we wreck the status quo when we are clearly benefiting the most from it?

You know who would like Indian and Chinese to kill each other - the white man. Especially the Indian's master - the Anglo.

Less Indian and Chinese in the world is better for the white man.

Indian need to get their head screw on straight and learn their humiliation under British rule. During the British invasion of China, Indian lackey were fighting for the white man to kill Chinese. I guess the Indian want to be the Anglo slave once again.
