What's new

An average Pakistani consumes 130 Kilos of wheat per year.

There's a thread about unity and all these intellectuals have chosen this thread to conquer each other.

With the amount of geeks here. Don't expect if someone comes with a thread about the quality of manure they produce after these diet.

These threads are useful when you don't have a billion people living without basic human needs in the sub continent.

this is was educational for me too but seeing members fight here in food arena was amazing lol

Why the heck are you people arguing on who eats more meat or rice, ffs?

Anyway, the whole subcontinental diet is okay for our people, since it works for us.

Thanks. I've never seen such a big roti in Indian Punjab. I think the biggest they have is Rumali roti - which is about 18 inches diameter - tops.

Physical conditioning is a function of diet only when a sedentary lifestyle is involved. People who have an active lifestyle have a totally different physiology. Years of physical exertion on a daily basis will strengthen bones, joints and muscles regardless of diet, although a good diet would definitely help.

Cardiovascular and neuro-muscular health are much more influenced by the extent of physical labour than on diet. A century ago, on an average, humans had very little access to meat or most food considered healthy today. They literally survived on fumes. Yet, a hard lifestyle due to lack of technology such as cars, escalators and running water meant that they were way tougher than most of us can ever hope to be.
From our elders in northern Pakistan we hear they used to go up on the mountains with jar of butter oil . Then sip it while cutting grass.
If i sip a whole jar of Ghee, I will get a heart attack

Our ancestors mitochondria were probably better adapted to burn fat for fuel.

I believe that is what a keto diet does - it forces you to burn fat in preference to carb.

I think that photo is from from Bannu/KP according to google. In Pak punjab rural areas almost every home have tandoor but they don't make roti/naan as big as that from what i've seen.

Another one from the same source.

The worlds top milk producer is India with 137 Million tons of Milk produced annually.
Pakistan stands at world's fourth with 42 Million tons of Milk production.
But Pakistan stands much higher in per capita milk availability and consumption due to the simple fact that although India produces 3.5 times more milk than Pakistan, their population is 6 times larger than us.
Per capita the worlds largest milk consumers are the North europeans. Finland being the biggest milk consumer at 361 Kilos per person per year. Pakistan stands at 160 Kilos per person per year.
Average american consumes 254 Kg per year.
But in Pakistan we consume more Buffalo milk and a european consumes cow milk. Kilo for Kilo the Buffalo milk has almost twice the nutritional values than cow milk.
There is another important factor while considering milk consumption. We humans lose our ability to digest milk with age if we belong to certain parts of the world.
As soon as we reach adulthood Our bodies stop producing enzymes necessary to digest Lactose, a type of sugar found in milk. This happens in people belonging to areas of the world where milk was not a primary part of their ancestors diet over the centuries.
For example 80% Chinese cannot digest milk due to Lactose intolerance and likewise china has only 30 Kg per capita per annum milk consumption compared to 160 for Pakistan. On the other hand 85% North Europeans have no problems in digesting milk and only 15% are Lactose intolerant. It has to do with our genes. Chinese culture had been settled for thousands of years and extensive farming has been providing them with variety of food, and rice is their staple food. On the other hand Europeans due to diseases , wars and climatic conditions over the millennia couldn't have extensive large scale farming and sheep herding, or cow and goat herding had been their main activities for food production, and milk had been major part of their diet. That capability has been retained in their genetic code.
In Pakistan we are not on either extreme we have partial lactose tolerance. Most of us will upset their stomach if we drink pure milk, but have no problems in consuming milk products such as Yoghurt and milk in tea. This is again due to our genetics and how our ancestors ate. Parts of our country is inhabited by decedents' of nomadic tribes and in other parts we are descended from ancient highly advanced and settled farming cultures. Then over the centuries intermarriages and shift in living conditions meant our ancestors had both types of diets. High in milk and high in farmed crops. Hence our genetic code retained a bit of both worlds.
