Amid Stalled Fighter Projects, Upgraded Mirage Cheers IAF

.
@Gabriel92 - How could you collude with our enemies ? I thought we were brothers !

:(

Fine....do what you have to do but I'm sure that my nieces and nephews (all 4 of them) will never forgive you for doing this to their Uncle Armstrong !

Okay jokes aside; do you have some more information about this modernization package ?

What sort of radar, avionics and electronic warfare equipment are we talking about ? Is it an AESA radar or an upgraded pulse-doppler one ?

And were would these modernized Mirages stand compared to their contemporaries ? Which is to say what Block of the F-16s would they be roughly be equivalent to (for a lay man) in terms of capabilities ?

F-16 blk 52 and 60 is still the better all around fighter, but I would put in par with both. F-16 can just carry more ordnance and further.

how the two would stack up in a dog fight is another issue, but I would probably give the edge to the Mirage with MICA IR.

True, Also During the COPE, an IAF Mirage shot down a USAF F 16 in a mock combat exercise. I say it would be equal to 52 but not 60...

i just love the mirage 2000 , what is the difference now between this upgraded Mk2 and the UAE -9

.
Business is business. :enjoy:

Thomson has claimed that the original RDY outperformed the AN/APG-66/68 of the F-16 and the AN/APG-65 of the F/A-18 Hornet.

More about it here :

RDY-3 - airborne fire control radar | Thales Group

(If the Indians,could add something..)
RDY-3 is a great radar to have. It raises very low false-alarm rate.. even at low altitudes. This would also make search mode only a transitory and short-duration phase.

Thanks for tagging me here. We Indians 're very proud of these Mirage 2000s which performed remarkably well during the kargil war. :)

I'm still hopeful about IAF acquiring used Mirage 2000s from other nations and upgrade them locally.
Hi
Exactly, if we get our hands on 12 Qutari Mirages out of which 3 are 2 seaters , it would be awesome. And if I get some more greedy India should try to buy a squadron of Strike varients of French Air force Mirages which can help us to replace some Mig 27s.
Cheers
Thanks
