America's ridiculous stance on Kashmir

India claims that is a democracy but is holding the Kashmiri Muslims(who clearly have zero allegiance to India) hostage. Let Kashmir go free and become part of Pakistan if they want and then everyone will become happier.

We are willing to let Kashmiri Muslims go..how about that ?

.
Of course America will never want to solve the Kashmir dispute or any other disputes between Pakistan and India in a just and moral way.
It would not be in America's or the west's interests.
They wants Asians to fight each other.

Let me correct you here my friend, we are willing to let Kashmiri muslims go who really want to go to Pakistan. will there be any?? I don't know because recent surveys showed nobody really want to go to Pakistan.. May be a few in Valley would like to take the flight but who knows what will they decide once they are stopped getting paid..

.
This is the problem with America's stance its perpetuating this injustice upon the Kashmiris by silencing the voice of the Kashmri people.

Because After Nixon's debacle in the south east Asia, there has been no American policy towards Kashmir!!! So, Are you depending on Americans to solve this problem??

Are you depending on Americans to solve this problem??

Exactly right.

I can never understand the thought process where Pakistanis want or expect the Americans to mediate in Kashmir. It is almost as naive as the Arab dictators asking Americans to mediate the Israel/Palestinian conflict.

The Americans are only interested in furthering their own national interests and, right now, they are convinced those interests are best served by supporting India. They don't even bother to pretend they give a damn about Pakistan, so why are people surprised by American behavior?

.
What will America get for supporting Pakistan on Kashmir????
Nothing.

And btw .....were Pakistanis looking at USA for their help????

Strange

.
On one hand Pakistan curses USA for all the wrong-doings in WoT and on the other hand , expects solidarity and moral-support for Kashmir.

Hypocrisy !

Fai was arrested because he broke a federal law in the US ....

1. There is no contiguous border between Bangladesh and the rest of Pakistan. This made the process of uniting the two wings extremely difficult. I do not think that there is an example of any other country in the world where approximately equal(in population) 2 halves of a country were separated by 1,000 miles of another country's territory.

2. Bangladeshi Islam is different to Pakistani Islam. We follow a slightly different version of Islam than Pakistan does. Pakistan bills itself as a religious state based on Islam and Bangladesh bills itself a secular country. Our culture is closer to the Islam followed in countries like Malaysia than in Pakistan. Now Azad Kashmiris do not have any issues being part of Pakistan and so their cousins in Indian-controlled kashmir will also think the same way.

In conclusion, uniting Pakistan and Bangladesh would never have worked in the long run, due to the physical separation and the difference in culture between the 2 countries. A pertinent point is that Bangladeshis are now far happier that we have our own independent country and we have only gone from strength to strength economically and socially since 1971

everyone in the sense......?

democracy does not mean you give in to secessiondemand of a group that is only 0.1% of the indian population....your chiitagong hill tracts wanted independence .....did you give?.......balochistan wants independence....did pakistanis give...? ireland wanted indpeendence...did uk give? american south wanted independence ..did the union agree ?

stupid logic of yours and stupid definition for democracy....

also we dont worry if the kashmiri muslims want to go to pakistan...they can sell their assets....pack their bags and go in the next flight or train....we will not miss them....but the land stays with india.....is that enough democracy for you ....?

On Asim Aquil's point that-"Libyan freedom is good, Syrian is good, but Kashmiri is not?" is because Kashmiris are already free.My Mother's ancestors were Kashmiri Pandits,so I now whether they are free or not.

There have been in depth opinion surveys as recently as 2009 from independent groups in the UK/US including the EU parliament under Baroness Nicholson. They included a discussion on the UN status as well and why they are irrelevant. In all cases we have a pretty good idea of what the ground situation is. Not to mention that almost every govt. in the world supports the stance that Kashmir is a bilateral issue.

We KNOW what the Kashmiri people want more or less. The next step is to get to a solution. In short ,
(1) We KNOW for certain that the overwhelming majority of people of J&K including the valley people DO NOT want to be a part of Pakistan
(2) We know that the valley people mostly want independence, BUT they want independence of the entire state of J&K including GilgitBaltistan, a opinon that Fai supported as well. This represents about 43% of the opinion of the entire state.
(3) We know that as a whole majority of the people of J&K including a section of the valley do not want independence and similarly on the Pakistani side 44%want independence but the majority want to stay as a part of Pakistan.

President Musharraf realized this and hence he came with his 4-point formula which made the LoC IB but allowing freedom of movement for the people of J&K across the border.

Lets leave aside the CIA/ISI compulsions for now. Even if this arrest had NOT happened, the above reality would still hold. Fai's efforts would remain an irritant and thats about it. As normal, we should be concerned more about the welfare of the people of Kashmir at the quickest way to resolve the issue. I wouldn't support a demand of independence by Turkistanis in China, but I would support freedom of religion and fair treatment and end of HR abuse for them. The same for Chechens in Russia. Then why not apply the same in India. Mushrraf realized this after 60+ years. Will the rest of the Pakistanis too?

Actually, 66% of Kashmiris in Indian Kashmir want independence from India:

Kashmir 101: Decoding Kashmir's conflict - What do Kashmiris want now? - CSMonitor.com

Most Kashmiris want independence, India imposes curfew | Asia-Pasific | World Bulletin

Most Kashmiris say they want freedom from India. Polling since 1995 has found at least two-thirds of those living in the Kashmir valley want independence. Some older Kashmiris still talk of joining Pakistan, but two-thirds of Kashmiris under age 30 mostly want independence.

There is no reliable source that says 44% of people from AJK want independence from Pakistan. And AJK is technically not part of Pakistan.

The people of Gilgit-Baltistan opted to be with Pakistan, although J&K & AJK were trying to force Gilgit-Baltistan to integrate with them, against their wishes of course. The people of Gilgit-Baltistan are ethnically, religiously & culturally different from the people of J&K & AJK; & do not want to be dominated by J&K & AJK, which is why they recently had an election in 2009, which had huge voter participation:

http://www.hrcp-web.org/pdf/Gilgit-Baltistan Report.pdf

The federal government approved a reform package for the Northern Areas on August 30, aimed at giving internal autonomy to the region.

On September 7, President Asif Ali Zardari signed the GilgitBaltistan (Empowerment and Self-Governance) Order, 2009, aimed at introducing administrative, political, financial and judicial reforms in Gilgit-Baltistan. Elections for the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) were announced to be held on November 12, 2009. The 2009 Order replaced the Northern Areas Legal Framework Order (LFO) 1994.
