I have seen crass insults praised. What for ? When a Chinese leveled this at me or any other Viet: "American GIs raped your mother and sisters.", then heaps of 'Thank' and positive ratings came from other Chinese, it makes those features nothing more than cheap ways for members of groups to congratulate each other. It is not just from the Chinese but I and other Americans experienced the same from Pakistanis, Iranians, and just about every ethnic group on this forum, various forms of crude insults just for the convenience of insulting an American. I have never reported a single such post. I let people be what/how they want to present themselves.

To my fellow Americans, look at it this way: If I do not challenge your serious post/comment, then what you said do not need my praise, just know that you taught me something about the subject, of yourself, and that it is appreciated.

I just take pride that the few Americans on this forum make a lot of positive contributions to the intellectual wealth of this forum, especially when it comes to the main theme of this forum, that are disproportionate from our few numbers. And EVERYBODY knows it. Most come here to emotionally vent that 12-yr old parts of their minds, but we few Americans who brought knowledge, life experiences, and serious thoughts are ourselves in a higher class of forum members.

It started with someone on some thread ask me who give me all these positive rating a few hours ago. Then I decided to do a head count on my positive rating. And I found out something that's very intriguing.

OF THE 192 POSITIVE RATING I GOT. NONE WERE LEFT BY AMERICAN....

Well, I do have some American member leaving me one or two positive rating, but never American' American. I mean, com'on, I have been pro-US all along and this Is how my compatriot treats me?? I even got Chinese member leaving me positive rating....

Problem begins when you (and other posters for that matter) express hatred towards Islam and ridicule our ways. When you associate Islam with terrorism and without acknowledging the dirty role of imperial powers in creating mess the world is currently in. Then, my Mr. Gambit, you receive those kinds of replies that are made to put you in place and to remind you and your fellow Americans that you aint no saints and your hands are stained with blood of millions of innocent humans starting from native Americans to wherever you went to establish your hegemony.

While you have your view on just about everything, he is also entitle to his own view.

You and me and him, we all come from different background, and if what you think is wrong and what he think is otherwise, you can't just go out and say "If you stick to your expertise and then you will get the respect you deserve"

I mean his view is his view, you can disagree about his view but you can't disrespect his personal and political view just because you think differently.

Airing one's views is no problem, twisting facts is. One must be intellectually honest when passing comments. America is superpower but it cant rewrite her history unless every non-American is killed, a new and favorite history is written, and world is re-populated and made to know only that history. May be America is working on this idea but for the time being, her role in killing millions of humans across the globe is pretty much persevered in the history.

But did he himself rewrite history?

Look, facts is very much depend on how you see things. During WW2, facts in Germany term maybe they are superior and Hitler is a god like figure. You might disagree with that but that does not mean you can go out and bash those who actually believe in it.

Those people or follower is not the problem, the people behind the idea is. If you hate @gambit because his view of America is a lot different than you, then it is America who you should hate, not Gambit.

It's not about being intellectual, or behave intellectually, but you are trying to blame someone who did not do all the wrongdoing you accuse of America, but the only "Sin" is that he love his country.

I don't see eye to eye with many Islamic tradition, belief or doing, that does not mean I did not respect people who hold Islamic believe in high regard, my problem is to those (In this scope, Muslim) whom incite violence, that does not mean I am gonna hate all Muslim that love and faithful to his/her religion. Positive / negaitve comments, ratings, thanks and likes are not worth it.
I used to chase them a lot when I was a young member of this forum. Yes they are kind of addictive but not worth the chase.

I have deleted many of my posts for which I had received many thanks, likes (whatever was the currency of the day) because I later thought they were made in bad taste and I was sure I was not going to be disciplined by the Admins.

Oh, and how does one earn a "Military pro" tag? I've noticed some ex-military members wear those - Gambit with the USAF and defense industry, yourself (I'm not familiar with the branch), Sven in the Navy, but I too am ex-military (RNoAF) and am an active member of the Norwegian defense industry. Any thoughts on how to go about getting a fancy tag?
