These developments paved way for the Afghan Taliban to RE-SURGE in various sectors of the country, and now US finds itself in WTH situation vis-a-vis Afghanistan.

Pentagon had reservations but Trump administration is OK with this arrangement and we should hope for the best.

As for American embassy turning into a fortress in Pakistan - no point in fretting over it. American embassies are like fortresses in several countries in accordance with respective regional considerations. If you are concerned about Americans extracting meaningful INTEL from Pakistan then you do not understand how this game is played in large part and we cannot do much about it regardless; refer to you my previous post in this thread.

Pakistan's primary concern should be revival of its economy and industrial capability, and GOP have no choice but to work with US irrespective of how some people perceive US and US-PAK relationship on the whole. Take it easy.

But wasn’t the expansion of the embassy in 2009 approved only because of the promise of continued US aid?

They have reneged on that now having been exposed as total hypocrite and users of Pakistan.

This embassy will eventually be razed to the ground. It is only a matter of time. The US did the same thing in Iran. Abandoning, lying and deceiving is a renowned US trait.

Many countries with US embassies have Marines stationed there. It is the job of Marines to guard consulates which per international law are US territory.
