And off course we are proud because we managed to crush a part of the threat that is to being faced by all of the world. We crush rebellions unlike someother countries where hundred of such movements are active and they can't stop them.

Focus on Gen's comments , word " months " .I thinks winter already started hope fully in March our army will March towards waziristan.

LAHORE: President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani have vowed to launch a full-scale military offensive against the Taliban and Al Qaeda in Waziristan, reported a private TV channel on Monday.

Recent reports have claimed that the army is all set to launch an offensive in the agency, with the required equipment and helicopters now available at bases in the area.

According to the channel, both leaders met over lunch at the Presidency, and also discussed constitutional reforms and ordinances to be tabled in parliament in the light of a Supreme Court judgement.

Sovereignty: Gilani and Zardari also discussed the recently-approved Kerry-Lugar bill. Both leaders dispelled the impression that Pakistan’s sovereignty had been compromised by the bill. They also discussed the law and order situation in the wake of the suicide attack on the World Food Programme’s office in Islamabad. Talks also focussed on FATA parliamentarians’ reservations, said the channel, adding that Gilani briefed the president on demands put forward by coalition partner Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F).

Sources said the two leaders also held detailed discussions on the situation in the Tribal Areas. They also exchanged views on the Swat situation, and hoped that the ongoing military operation would soon establish complete peace in the region.

Gilani and Zardari also reviewed the situation in Balochistan and allegations by US officials of Taliban operating from areas around Quetta through the ‘Quetta shura’. They said government was committed to peace in the province.

The leaders also vowed to take all political parties on board in deciding key political issues.

Meanwhile, a statement by the government said that issues related to the overall security situation in the country and political situation were discussed at the meeting. daily times monitor/staff report

Did they give any time frame?

I dont think their is any operation in next six months,May Allah save us from bloodshed and fitna and fasad and restore Peace in Pakistan.

Uzbek rebel 'killed' in Pakistan

A senior Uzbek militant commander in north-west Pakistan is believed to have been killed in a US missile strike in August, intelligence officials say.

Pakistan's interior minister says there is no "conclusive evidence" of his death. But an army source told the BBC that there are "strong rumours".

Tahir Yuldashev was the head of the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan. A Taliban spokesman denied the report.

Correspondents say many Uzbek militants operate in Pakistan's tribal areas.

Rerports say that Tahir Yuldashev died from his injuries after a drone attack in the Kanigoram region of South Waziristan last month.

His death was first reported on the Radio Liberty station in Pakistan after a man purporting to be his bodyguard rang the station up.

Tahir Yuldashev had been based in South Waziristan close to the Afghan border for some years. He is reported to have fled Afghanistan after the 2001 fall of the Taliban.

If confirmed, his death would be a heavy blow to militant groups operating a long the border.

Correspondents say that his faction had formed alliances with al-Qaeda and the Taliban.

It targeted foreign forces in Afghanistan and carried out attacks Pakistani troops in the tribal belt.

A number of senior militant commanders have been killed in recent missile strikes in the troubled region.

But a Taliban spokesman told the Associated Press news agency that the commander had not been killed.

Pakistan will launch an operation against militants in restive South Waziristan "imminently", Interior Minister Rehman Malik has said.

He was speaking hours after militants attacked army HQ in Rawalpindi, killing 11 civilian and army deaths while eight militants were killed.

Mr Malik blamed the attack on the Taliban and al-Qaeda, whose strongholds are in South Waziristan.

One militant, thought to be the group's leader, was arrested.

Mr Malik said the government had given its approval to an operation in South Waziristan, and it was now up to the army to decide on its timing.

"The operation is imminent," he said, according to Reuters news agency.

The army has been preparing for a major operation in South Waziristan since it successfully cleared the Swat valley of militants in September.

Correspondents say a string of recent militant attacks have been attempts to dissuade the army from mounting an assault on South Waziristan.

The attack on Rawalpindi prompted US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, speaking during a visit to London, to say militants in Pakistan were increasingly threatening the authority of the state.

But she said the US saw no evidence they were going to succeed, or that Pakistan's nuclear arsenal was at threat.

Mr Malik also congratulated the army on its success in ending the hostage situation.

But the BBC's Aleem Maqbool in Islamabad says the attack will be a huge embarrassment to the authorities, coming in one of the most secure areas in the country.

It began on Saturday when militants drove up to the army compound, shooting and throwing grenades. Six soldiers and four militants died in the initial assault.

The authorities declared the situation over, but it later transpired that some militants had infiltrated the compound and were holding hostages.

Pakistani special forces stormed the compound just before dawn on Sunday.

In the ensuing fighting, three hostages, two soldiers and four militants were killed. Another militant was badly wounded and later arrested.

The military said later that the surviving militant, named as Aqeel or Dr Usman, was the leader of the group and was also suspected of masterminding an attack on the Sri Lankan cricket team in Lahore in March.

Senior military officials and civilian personnel were reported to be among the hostages.

The attack followed a series of bombings in north-western Pakistan. On Friday at least 50 died in a blast in Peshawar.

In recent days Taliban positions in the tribal areas have been bombed by the air force, amid speculation that the army's offensive there is soon to be intensified, says our correspondent.
