What's new

all future F-16 wings will be built in India

Good news for us actually. No matter how hard PAF still wanted this plane, the fact that after 2020 its wings will be "Made in India" will forbid their pride to go for the F-16s. Finally we will be able to cut lose from this last string of blackmail by the US.

. .
There will never be any more orders for these planes, not from the PAF for sure, and maybe the rest of the world. The F-16 is being replaced.
Not the case block 70 will secure more orders in future but not from Pakistan for sure.

So when there is a future order from the Pakistani government for PAF....they'll have no choice but to build it for them....

On the overall side, it will reduce the cost of production significantly.
There wont be any future orders trut me. Naya Pakistan is waking up

.
african countries will buy .

They have cheaper and more advanced options form China.
The very fact that it was shifted to india, explains they don;t expect any more sales for it, but only using it as leverage to sell other systems to india by getting a better foothold in there.

.
US is replacing Turkey with India when it comes manufacturing hub for planes and relevant equipment.

. . .
There are African countries with higher per capita income and even larger gdp .
They already operate better planes then F-16. South Africa, Egypt, Algeria Etc.
Rest cant even figure out how to replace Mig21s and J7s.
And who wants strings attached American Planes at all except its allies. A Russian Flanker and French Mirage 2000 can take on F16 any day.

please don't say THAT ................The PDF ferternity will go mad ... How dare you suggest flankers or mirage2000 could take out F16s .

Do you not realise nothing beats F16

There will be severe political backlash though.

One would expect any new Pakistani orders will be for existing stocks of F-16s rather than new builds.

Arms deals are also about defense pacts; 200 F-16 Block 70 would cement jobs in the US for the next 20 years and tie the US and India together in the struggle against China.

The Americans have many other stuff we can buy instead of F-16s.

Like more drones, more Apaches, more P-8Is. And even joint development programs like the FVL.

We will see. Bring back the F-16 and Gripen in to consideration for the 200 fighters the IAF is short seems to indicate otherwise.

The F-16/Gripen contest is dead. IAF has instead opted for 201 LCA Mk2.

The new contest is back to picking a twin engine jet.

You never know how things turn out. In the early 2000s, it was being said the C/D model will never reach PAF service. Now they're flying them split between 2 squadrons....

It was rejected before....yet the IAF procurement team has always been indecisive when it comes to Western fighter or attack jet contracts....Hawks, Jaguars, C-130s, PC-7s....I heard this from an ex-BAE Systems employee who did multiple projects in India....

That indecision talk is subjective. Rather we have had problems with BAE.

We have zero problems with the French and Israelis. The sticking point is always the price with them.

And the Americans do their best to skimp out on offsets. Particularly Lock Mart.
