What's new

Aligarh Muslim University shut down indefinitely after violent clashes

You're missing the point.

There's so many reports of bomb blasts regularly occurring on the deccan plains, but noone cares. Not even Indian media bothers to inform Indians. Because noone cares.

But bomb blasts regularly occur.

I'll get some proper reports in a bit when there's time to do so.

Yes do that. That will require both some time and some thinking!

Ah yes, BTW; it is the Deccan Plateau not Deccan plains. Need to revise your geography.

 I like your attempt to save face and taking the patli gali.

It's not an attempt to save face. You really do overestimate how much I do give a damn about some short deccanized little miner cheering like he's succeeded for once in his life, by taking the time to find out whether a report corresponds to a date on an internet forum.

Thank you for taking the time to do this, but it makes no difference to the point i was making. There's a thousand other news stories i could substitute for it.

Point? What point? You had no point!

Though you DID TRY to make a point, the same point, twice and failed miserable in your pathetic attempts.

Better luck next time.

And just to remain in the fore-front of the student's union activities, there has been the unusual phenomenon of "professional students"; i.e. students who don't attend classes and fail their exams for years on end; just to remain students! But the Indian Supreme Court in a landmark judgement (and UGC, through some rules) had severely curtailed such "students". Though I don't know how effectively that is being implemented; things were much worse when I was a college student, I hear that things are better now to some extent (subject to verification). Incredibly, in the past; there was a move in some Indian states by political parties to introduce unions into high schools. Luckily it did not happen.
.

These unions election are now being kept in check after the SC decision.
In our univ students having particular % marks and attendance are only allowed to contest for the election.

Dude, I have seen things. I know exactly how these people think. Thats why I said, they are idiots to allow firearms in universities. It will one day, definitely backfire, like all ill maintained illegal firearms do.

No one allow firearms in universities. There is simply no way to check it. Desi kattas are use and throw, they don't really endure the wear and tear of firing several rounds. The ones who know how to use it will throw it away after firing a few rounds.

AMU is a premium institute of education
Why people like ROADRUNNER thinks a firing in AMU wont draw the attention of media?
Are they trying to say that if this incident happens in IITs or Banaras HINDU university it would not be aired?

I agree with you on this part. It is not any other university, people will be alarmed too if it happened in JNU.

Seems to be a lot of religion based Apartheid in Indian institutions.

I suppose you're right, firearms usage within the universities is not as daily an occurrence as bombs going off in India, so this would be news to a degree.

Anyhow, carry on.

Religion based apartheid ? Care to elaborate?
These two institutions (AMU and BHU) are pre independence and hence the name. Does not mean it wont accept people from other religion.

Religion based apartheid means there are bombs going on in india daily, but they are not reported, but since they are not reported, it can not be proven can it? But it happens, because, hello, there is religion based apartheid in India, which BTW really is the rightful name of Pakistan.

Its called thinking, if you make an effort, you may get it, or if you are indoctrinated an an early age. Not everyone has that advantage.

People are asking how they got firearms..
Damn, in UP& bihar you could get desi katta(revolver) for as low as 1500RS..
Its home made ones..
