What's new

Aligarh Muslim University shut down indefinitely after violent clashes

The news was reported by mainstream media, but you chose to post from christcalling because dishonesty is necessary when making an argument that originates not in fact but in one's brainwashed mind

Wonder what expletives fit such intellectual dishonesty served daily!

Let them live in their cocoon. They feel we don't know what happens in our country.

I feel good to be underestimated.

So that was reported. Many are not.

Deadly Blast in Assam, India « Assam Tea

I'm beginning to see a pattern here. That India has lots of bombs going off regularly.

You are talking about UP, where everyone is relative of some MP and MLA and where even roadside vendors know more about politics than some Political Science post graduate from some other part of the country. Clearly you haven't met some UP wale Bhaiyya Ji.

Dude, I have seen things. I know exactly how these people think. Thats why I said, they are idiots to allow firearms in universities. It will one day, definitely backfire, like all ill maintained illegal firearms do.

and i thought only we have this issue here in our varsities. the student politics is a dangerous thing in my personal opinion here in this part of the world where many outsiders (read political activists get involved)

I disagree. It is an important democratic process where one gets to involve students in the country's politics. How is it OK for students to be involved in military matters -NCC etc but not politics.
IMHO, it is one of the best methods of grooming young citizens as future politicians. Not all politicians, in India atleast, have the privilege of being born in a political family.

Gubbi i dont know what is scene of Indian student politics but here in our country i am not in favour of this as almost all mainstream political parties are linked to these student groups and above all they activists often get into varsities in case of any such incident

man another rupeenews :victory:

LOL, well spotted! that 2009 bombing is ALSO covered by all Indian and even foreign news sources. There's also a wiki on that.

I see a trend here, these self made ideologues, opinion makers, but basically victims of their own propaganda either lurk at suspect agnda driven sites like christcalling or rupeenews or when even thats a FAIL write their own blogs and then 'form objective opinions' based on that LOL

But it becomes worse when they start believing it!!! Then they move onto history re-writing!

Yeah men that's amazing.

Look at his arguments first he said that in India bomb blast occurred "daily" and now he came down to "routinely".

He still need to work on.

Quite correct there. In India, the entry of mainstream political parties into universities through the students unions has been a curse. Thus the student unions; instead of espousing student's issues end up pushing the agendas of political parties.
And just to remain in the fore-front of the student's union activities, there has been the unusual phenomenon of "professional students"; i.e. students who don't attend classes and fail their exams for years on end; just to remain students! But the Indian Supreme Court in a landmark judgement (and UGC, through some rules) had severely curtailed such "students". Though I don't know how effectively that is being implemented; things were much worse when I was a college student, I hear that things are better now to some extent (subject to verification). Incredibly, in the past; there was a move in some Indian states by political parties to introduce unions into high schools. Luckily it did not happen.

About these disturbances in AMU; going by the reports, there was exchange of gunfire between the groups which led to the injuries. Seems that shotguns were used; thank god they were not AKs or RPGs! But its not the first time that fire-arms have been used.
Just imagine, gun-toting scholars in an institution of higher education.

Nothing much to it, really. If nowadays; garbage and sewage can be 'recycled', why not 'news' ?

Of course, this thread is about 'violence in student politics'; while it specifically relates to an incident in AMU. These kind of incidents deserve a closer look. The last thing that is desired is; guns going off in universities. "Gun-Culture" (or the use of violence to settle scores) must be ruthlessly suppressed; it can only cause damage to society at large.

You're missing the point.

There's so many reports of bomb blasts regularly occurring on the deccan plains, but noone cares. Not even Indian media bothers to inform Indians. Because noone cares.

But bomb blasts regularly occur.

I'll get some proper reports in a bit when there's time to do so (or see the Sticky thread).
