Alcohol and freedom under secular liberalism

Don't you advocate for secularism in the muslim world including Pakistan? Don't you advocate for copying the western sociopolitical model? Aren't you liberals the poster boys of righteousness in the eyes of the western media and government pundits? You do not care but what you advocate for has direct disastrous consequences for millions of people.

Come on! What is wrong with freedom. Freedom to choose how a person lives his life. Imposing religion is always a disaster. Instead the state has a responsibility to focus on equality freedom and merit. What has our countries imposition of Islamic law given us. Allah has made it clear "to you be your faith, to me be mine"... we have the freedom to choose right or wrong and that is how the world works. If Allah wanted each and every person would be a muslim but he made us so that we love each other and respect each others, so that there was diversity in the world. Let them drink, its like taking ones right to pray or banning minarets in Switzerland.

Only in our countries do we impose what a person should and should not do. I do not consume alcohol but I still support freedom for those that want to. Nothing should be imposed by a sword hanging on their heads. The beauty of Islam is that people automatically are attracted to it because of its righteous ways. Islamic conversion has slowed down compared to in the past only because of this type of thinking, radical thinking and imposition of so-called Islamic principles by ghairatmands. I believe luffy you interpret Islamic texts too radically, too narrowly.

I will agree with the above post we shouldn't force Islam on anyone everybody knows what alcohol can do to you and also that it's haram but still we've no right to force someone to stop drinking it but still being a Muslim we should advice them that's it imo

It is not that during the time when Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H was living in Makkah and Madinah there were no physicians or doctors, but there was no report that those Tabeebs talked about or prohibited the consumption of alcohol. The Prophet solely declared it haraam based on his revelational knowledge.

Today medical science has explained everything that how and why alcohol and cigarette are injurious to health and must be avoided. If people do not listen to a medical doctor they won't listen to any preacher or activist. You may call these people 'Parhay likhay jahil' but there is no solution except that you keep them convincing through medical presentations and media campaign.

So one must support freedom of choice. In this age of IT how can you force people when they might know better than you.

But like you can't smoke in public places, you can't drink if it affects other's life.

A full blown drunk doesn't know the different from right to wrong. They are unconscious under the influence of alcohol. I've seen how they act under influence. sime of my co-worker paid heavily while driving drunk. Stay away from alcohol consumption. It has no benefit my friends.

well as per my religion, I am allowed to drink alcohol, infact thats how I can be closer to God..

you cant drink in public places in UK.. by law. however police usually does not charge you unless you are being a nuisance to others.

its my personal life i can ruin it destroy it or live it to the max who is the state to dictate it max state should be allowed to do is put ban on public drinking to prevent the accidents.if you don't want to consume it don't do it but don't force the ban on me.
