Al-Qaeda claims slaying of ISI brigadier

Brig Sahab was under the illusion that only handful of people knew his movement and 6 security guards would be enough to protect him from any untoward situation.

You correctly pointed out security was totally non-existent. Atleast 6 guards of Brig sahab should have formed a kind of protective ring along with Khadmeen of Mazar
6 Guards and couldnt protect One Person  hang them upside down

.
Hizb Tahrir, LeT , Ilyas Kashmiri they all have been working silently against Pakistan and since our War on terror they have tirelessly tried to instigate an open conflict between India and Pakistan.

Gen Alvi was marked out for his role against the terror groups.

That is true. However, the sheer irony is that many of these "players" were shagirds and mureeds of the ISI to start with. Sorry as I am to use such noble expressions for such scum; they seem to be the only appropriate ones in this context.

Oh, sorry. I had meant to type @Capt.Popeye .... Sorry again.

What is it that you want to tell me, and tagged me for?

Guards must had 9mm under their shirts. Look at the mobility of assassin and the one who provided covering fire. Classic textbook element of surprise achieved. Nobody can hold their nerves straight in such ambushes.

Definately a insider attack. Precise info about Brigadier movements and whereabouts. The number of gun men he had, that attackers targeted them all rendering them incapable to come after them

He was my father's frnd ..

Not an insider job...there was a Mehfil e zikr going on at his village (he was also into spirituality) when these sobs shot him n his brother... Multiple attackers all trained .. He didn't have any army guards or escorts along with him.. Just a few untrained armed guys/villagers.

Punjab has significant terrorist/al-qaeda presence. It is said that Al-Qaeda has decided to rely on Punjabi terrorists rather than pashtun now as Punjab police is usually suspicious of pashtuns. If Tablighi Jamaat is not limited, more and more Punjabis will join terrorists. Their khusra leader "converting" celebrities on TV will sow bad seeds for the future. Central Punjab was once a sufi/barelvi dominated area, but Tablighi jamaat has been quite successful in making pro-terrorist converts.

Pirs at Sufi shrines are easy targets. I do security duty routinely at Mehfil-e-Zikr in Lahore and Multan. I know how easy it is to breach security, because we do not carry weapons, and hired gun-men are next to useless. Militants inspired by Najdi ideas have an unthinking, unfeeling, fanatical mind-set.

Politicians and Sufis have to stay in touch with people most times. It is just a given. Nothing can be done about it.

You're a security guard?!

yea .... closely connected to that irony is another one
say CIA and Al Qaeda together and revel at the"irony" as well.

Yes there are many Americans into conspiracy theories, so saying many Americans have written about it is meaningless. There is no such American policy at the pentagon or white house level. That is the litmus test you need to pass to even begin having your conspiracy theory entertained, and it doesn't pass that. There is no evidence of ISI funding Al Qaeda. This is actually one of the less plausible conspiracy theories against the ISI. You should try some other conspiracy theories against the ISI - I know you have a ton of them.

So you're saying Pakistan created Al Qaeda? You're very out of touch with reality if you believe in that conspiracy theory.

u surely created this one :

Alvi’s murder was masterminded by Commander Ilyas Kashmiri, the now deceased chief of the Azad Kashmir chapter of the al-Qaeda-linked Harkatul Jehadul Islam

yea .... closely connected to that irony is another one

Even bigger irony is Uncle Sam and ISIS.

Hi,

It is not that they have capability--the problem with Pakistanis is that they don't take to threats seriously---.

No sir. it cuts deeper.

.
That is precisely what baffles me.

Sir, its absolutely necessary to trace down and remove individuals or groups engaged in nurturing the young officers or soldiers ranks into HT's fascist ideology. They can go and establish a caliphate in UK, where they originate from. What we need is a gas chamber for these people. We can no longer afford our best men to be killed by petty terrorists.

I will like to share an old story back in late 90s. @Icarus would know as well.
there was a failed Caliphate attempt within the army and some junior to senior officers (up to the ranks of star officers) were involved where the political and military leadership was to be executed simultaneously and the head of the coup was to declare caliphate.. I forgot the names of the people involved but this was during second Nawaz goverment and he was also going to be killed.

my father was serving in Attock at the time and one of the the court marshal members (from GHQ's Jag's branch) was my father's course mate and staying in the same army Mess where father was at the time and things he shared were very astounding and sorry for using the clinche line "stranger than fiction"

a major was to march into the Corps commanders meeting and open fire on all the military leadership while his other associates were to do the same to other forces chiefs and the government etc. full Islamic Caliphate was to be imposed and the the head of the Coup was to address the nation after becoming the Caliph etc.

father just mentioned that t while I was on leave and came to visit him. I didnt bother asking what became of the conspirators I guess some were put behind bars for life and some were put in front of the firing squad.

Even bigger irony is Uncle Sam and ISIS.
true that.. and there seems to be no learning
they continue to repeat the same mistake again and again

now Uncle is trying to find "moderate" Sunni group to train to fight ISIS but what will happen is that after the training and receiving American equipment it will join ISIS or any other terrorist group to cull all impure and lesser Muslims and non Muslims.

.
Rest in peace .. I see sectarian angle to this murder , deceased brigadier was a Sufi Muslim hence follower of barelvi sect .. It's a clean up In process by enemies who Offcourse has good insider help and are trying to weaken liberal open minded sects of communities by hitting high profile targets so that shift towards their fckd up idealogy would be smooth and silky

There is no such thing as "sufi" sect on the ground in pakistan, no one calls himslef as "sufi" muslim, they all call themselves essentially sunni, this "sufi" terminology is an internet phenomenon.

I have always maintained that this deobandi "tableeghi jamaat" is the biggest breeding ground for extremists and potential recruits for terrorist organizations in pakistan.

They are the most peaceful group in fact many talk against them because they don't off Jihad like other groups

I dont hear one retailiatry fire fire, .....6 guards shoukd have atleast formed an outter cordon for the lookout

Sounds very similar to what happened in early 80s

"Six others who had received bullet injuries included Brigadier’s gunmen Amjad Mahmood, Mohammad Azim, Ahsanul Haq, Qaiser Abbas, Mohammad Zafar and Asghar Ali who are being treated at the DHQ Hospital, Sargodha."

Yes I was also wondering about that, he had his own security Team of 6 man,why they could not provide him security ? Did they have not adequate training ? Were they undisciplined ?

If I had to bet, the people sitting on the left side of Brigadier sahab were his guards. They didn't get a chance to fire one shot. All were shot, rendering them to do anything.

Yara, Someone somewhere leaked his whereabouts. Loose lips sinks the ship

I would still hang them, if they were Military personnel or Agency's....that ia even more disasterous to sit next to subject like that ---i have done this kind of work thats why i say ao...

i have been following some accounts on Twitter related AQIS and TTP, and it odd that they claimed the responsibility much much later after it was published in the media - in the span of three days, these guys gave two different Press Release for killing Brigadier sb--both with different stories - same goes for Naval Dockyard attack

As far as HuT is concerned then i am of view that these guys are determined to recruit the middle ranking leadership and not eliminare them - and eliminate the top leadership .....
However I am not ruling out sectarian attack by Punjabi Talib or their associare or LeJ

Depends who they were, agency has a different cell for Security and these guys a responsible for Security Clearence, Site Security, Vip Security etc and have adequate security - but if they were from different cell then they might not have specified Close Protection training
