AICC and Antonov to Resurrect and Modernize An-225

But why the An-225 ? ... The An-124 would make much more sense?

A notional Chinese-built An-225 would probably be extensively modified and modernized with newer avionics, bay design, and possibly structural updates as well.

Quotes from earlier this year...

"More than 1,000 Y-20s will be needed," Zhu Qian, head of AVIC's Large Aircraft Development Office, told reporters, referring to the 200-tonne, 50- to 60-tonne cargo capacity, four turbofan-powered transport aircraft that first flew in January 2013.

Zhu told the newspaper that China also plans to build "300-tonne, 400-tonne, and even 600-tonne aircraft". In this context a 600-tonne aircraft would approach the size of the Antonov An-225 Mriya and the Airbus A380.

but don't forget the story of "Varyag carrier casino", which was also bought by a company in Hangkong, and no longer existing now.

Various reports are claiming otherwise. Allegedly, the D-18T turbofan will be part of the deal. Additionally, it is not unexpected of the Chinese to eventually adopt their own subsystems onto the aircraft in order to modernize it.

AN225 is civil used one, not like an aircraft

then we probably need to look it from civilian perspective, is there any civilian market for this plane? I could see China as mercantile nation has plenty of use for this plane.

Building second An-225 in Ukraine to full working state and selling it to China. Then after this second finished An-225 will be delivered they "promised"(memorandum) to sign next deal for licensed production An-225 in China


Also China pre-paying for building An-178 (25 planes)

I think he does not mix An-178 with the Y-20, but the projected Y-30 fits roughly the same requirement.

Would be interesting to know if these An-178 would be for a civil contractor -IMO most likely - or the military.

If true, I think this is likely a commercial deal involving only one aircraft rather than a military deal.

Ukraine has a second half completed AN-225 lying in hangar since collapse of USSR. They must be very eager to complete and sell this second AN-225.

The buyer would most likely use this jet for commercial air freight of over size heavy equipment.
