If pak military had a couple of shoulder launched sams at SALALA checkpost---things would have been different---.

Those COAS come form intelligence they are passive not aggressive. Plus, most probably from ground post they must be asking to launch SAM , but someone from PA must stop them, there own reason ...may be or may be not. According to NATO Salala was misunderstanding , even though PA post was kept on sending signal to US forces to stop fire but they didn't. ..anyway since then lot has been changed.

Salala was no misunderstanding by the US military---it was intentional---.

Intelligance background person should never be made a commander in chief of Pak military---and neither should an engineer be heading the Paf or Pak navy either.

Salala attack formation was C130E ,F15 and 3rd line was AH64. C130 played major role to strike the post.

Americans utilized two AH-64D Apache gunships to infiltrate and neutralize two Pakistan Army posts in the Salala region in 2011 under the cover of darkness. The gunships benefitted from their superior night-vision capabilities during the operation.

Pakistani troops were alert and utilized AA guns to fight off the Americans but lost. The fight lasted 2 hours in total.

India might be drawing inspiration from Salala incident. If they are to utilize their gunships for infiltration, they might do so under the cover of darkness much like the Americans. However, Indians might not be as skillful.

It was US bird fully supported by NCW, while Pakistan don't have good defense on western border as compared to eastern one and India is not US.

Also Pakistanis didn't want to engage US they were in contact with US HQ in Afghanistan, after that PA decided to have better air defense and they went for FM-90 & LY-80Es.

So many questions remain unanswered. Fence is only good option and proper communication along fence line to avoid another Salala.
