Among this global village, the only nations that have dignity and respect are the one's who idiolize, honour, standby and promote thier own culture and heritage, some prominent examples here for u i.e Chinese, Japanese, Germans, Italians, French and ofcourse the British. There is a hadith linked to this topic, it goes like 'when one acts like another people, he then belongs to those people.

I know many young people in the air force who belong from villages and got their education from government schools..Students who study in famous schools like City School,LGS etc etc usually cant even clear initial tests of the selection,most of the selected candidates are from middle class who study in average schools.

Squadron names are decided by upper command who ofcourse are old school people and not the type you are referring to so your argument here is illogical.

I know a good number who came from good schools. But there is preference from PAF Colleges.

Sometimes the selection system can be biased or a little outdated. I know one guy who tried twice, got rejected twice by being told he was not physically fit enough (despite being a tennis player at an NCAA university in the US). Got picked up to fly F/A-18s for the US Marines.

It is a very tough system by Pakistan's standards. Very average by international standards. The Academy is the strong point of PAF that shapes up the cadets.

I can assure you that there is no truth in your assertion that merit takes a second seat in the armed forces. There is nothing against candidates who are not from military-run colleges or schools or most commonly the casts preferences such as Sindhis. Air Mshl Daudpota was a pucca Sindhi. Many children of Generals and Air Marshals have been rejected as they were not up to the mark. On the other hand some candidates from poor families coming from far-flung areas have been selected. Right now, there is an Air Marshal whose father was a poor shopkeeper. So rest assured that there is no schooling, provincial, religious or caste/clan bias in the armed forces.

I agree with you. I think your assessment is a little different than from what I have seen first hand (old man of mine is a PAF fighter pilot). If you want to go in further details with that, please PM me and we can have a discussion. There are certain matters that best be kept of the forum. Because the end results were tragic, if not disappointing.

Some interesting names of USAF squadrons that have nothing to do with US or its culture but names were kept keeping in view of history (war) etc.:

4th Fighter Sqd: The Fightin Fuujins
14th Fighter Sqd: The Fightin Samurai
25th fighter Sqd: The Assam Draggins
188th Fighter Sqd. The Tacos (Mexican dish)
457th Fighter Sqd. Spads (A french Fighter plane of WW1)
960th AAC Sqd: Vikings.......

Last time I checked pre-cadets apply once a year for commission so civilians have atleast one attempt per year where they can apply without any competition from the former.I have many friends in the forces who were civilians and had nothing to do with military.

Your point of preference given to the pre-cadets is somewhat legit cuz government has spent much amount on these boys so it prefers not to lay waste all that investment.But this was in the past,now a days cadets also get rejected even just on the basis of overconfidence.

I believe no new f16 are coming I think paf decided to understrength some existing squadron to squeeze out another understrength f16 squadron

13 f16 adf in one squadron
Remaining 45 mlu f16 divided into 3 squadrons

That is how paf will get 5 f16 squadron hence this new squadron
