Israel and the US are 'secular' States in the sense that they have largely eliminated the role of religion in domestic policy making. There are very few, if any, restrictions of free speech and thought which allows their societies to intellectually evolve and progress, whereas the Blasphemy laws in Pakistan and the nonsensical restrictions to 'protect out culture' (such as restrictions on Basant or Valentines day) continue to retard our societies and limit creativity and intellectual discourse and progression.
